So many years gone by and this scene still does things to me! It never fails! My babes, I'll always love them both! PS - It's so funny how some people look at this and think it's a Russian greeting thing. Really! The intensity, the time he lingers on it, the way you can see it's clearly a heat of the moment, now or never thing... This is clearly an emotional goodbye and good luck "man for whom I have all sorts of conflicting feelings for" kind of moment. I really worry for people who think this is how uncles, cousins or friends kiss each other goodbye (even in an emotionally charged situation).

I doubt this was ever meant as "usual in Russian culture", I always saw it as an expression of Krycek's complicated feelings, especially at that point where he's basically signing his death sentence. This was apparently ad libbed by Nick Lea, who probably isn't the straightest guy, and thought this made sense for the character. There are other scenes where there's some homoerotic tension between them and this is basically Krycek saying goodbye, it's all this conflicting feelings exacerbated and rising to the surface in what he thinks will be their last meeting.

i just finished binging this show for the first time very recently and krycek is one of my new favorite love to hate villains. he's such a walking meme lol. and everyone is always making the bucky barnes comparisons when it comes to him, but honestly, all i can see i look at moments like this is that krycek was the male villanelle. i literally cannot unsee mulder and krycek as villaneve here and i don't even ship either pairing lol. especially when mulder says "isn't that how you beat yourself?" i keep expecting krycek to say "i masturbate about you a lot" in a russian accent.

I live in Russia. Russian men do not kiss when meeting and saying goodbye, or in other cases. There was once such a tradition of the Orthodox faith, but it is no longer in circulation. If they tried to show this tradition here, they'll clearly failed. Alex's kiss looks very erotic. So why it wouldn't be.
@YodaOnDMT4 жыл бұрын
If you're Russian, can you answer this. In the 8th episode of the 4th series, Krycek has a conversation with a Russian guard and apparently lies to Mulder about what was said. I'd be extremely grateful if you could tell me what was actually said.
@CatherineInRock3 жыл бұрын
@@YodaOnDMT I think I can clarify this for you if you don't mind. Krycek tells the truth - he tells the guard he wants to get out of there asap and tells him to take him to the supervisor as they would want to speak to him.

People who say this isn't gay, this is totally gay. Krycek knows that Mulder doesn't understand much of the Russian culture, and even if he did know what the kiss thing was, he would've taken it in a different way because he's american.
