DJ did what big sisters should do. Help guide the younger sister. My older sister was there for me until the day she died at 41. Older sisters have done more in life. Little sisters should be glad when their big sister loves them so much they risk making the little sister mad at them by telling them not to do something dangerous even if it means the little sister is angry at the big sister.

Earlier in the episode, Stephanie had told DJ that the two boys they had been with had been driving on the wrong side of the road and pretending they couldn’t steer. DJ knew it was a matter of time before a car accident would occur.

As a kid, I thought DJ was being unfair towards Stephanie, but now as an adult, I realize that DJ was trying to protect Stephanie from getting hurt because of Gia. Even though they butt heads a lot, they are still family looking out for each other.

Here's what gets me... What should've happened was this when Danny asked: "Didn't you say something about going out with Gia tonight?" It should've been Stephanie saying: "Well yeah but DJ here stopped me from going... because... I don't know." Truth is better than a lie.

This is of course the quintessential "girls arguing and an adult breaks it up" scene of this show, except it seems to hold moral when compared to the others before it. I feel that DJ is very hypocritical with her lectures here since she's no spring chicken herself. Since Danny was obsessed with playing that video game when DJ was gonna rat Stephanie out, I wonder if that would've snapped him back into reality from the video game.

This is on par with that scene from My girl when Harry tells Vada about Thomas J. and the bees. in fact: the first time I saw this, I thought Danny would have to break the news to Stephanie that Gia died in the accident, so to hear that she was in hospital, meaning she was still alive, did make it a bit easier to bear.
