Did you put anything on the bottom of the metal rotating assembly to grip and/or protect the finish of whetever surface (table, countertop, etc) the lazy susan might be used on?

I places some shelf liner on the bottom at first, then a while later glued it on with some spray glue.

I did a similar thing with a thin piece of wood, but instead of using my fingers, I used the palm of my hand to keep this piece of oak in place. I put a good bit of weight on it too. The oak flew out from under my hand, and my palm ended up on the sander. It took quite a good bit of skin off right in the centre and some off my fingers and as you can imagine, it stung like mad. I had trouble contracting my hand for a few days. Lessons learned.

Real chefs really dislike juice grooves, that one looks insanely unnecessary. Noone wants their meat to lose that much juice lol, maybe a watermelon board😂😊 Any board i have made to sell with a juice groove always gets looked over for ones without so i completely stopped offering them, same with rubber feet. Still a quality video, keep up the great work! cheers!

When or if there comes a day and the wife says "we need to down size", meaning, it's time to sell the house and get a smaller one just for us. DON'T sell ANY of your woodworking tools! Three years ago, we sold our big home to down size. We did the RV thing for almost 2 years after and put a lot of stuff in storage. Guess what I had to give up. I kept my hand power tools, but sold my jointed, planer, band saw, scroll saw, drill press, table saw, a bunch of hand tools, and ALL of my bar clamps. This was the 2nd worst mistake I've made, first being selling my boat. Now, we've bought a smaller house, and I'm starting from scratch with my big power tools. I'll never have the good ones I used too as the costs have gone way up, so it's the cheap stuff to get me by. That's a great looking radial drill press you got there ! NEVER SELL IT!

I could be wrong, but I don't believe it was the sandpaper that was the problem. I think your fingers got pulled in to the fence and that's when things got bad.if the fence wasn't there then you could have pulled you hands up with minor rubbing.

A good tip that you may also remember is to alternate the spacer pieces each time so that you don't introduce incremental problems if the two spacers are marginally different. This alternating of spacers eliminates this. You would know this, but viewer newbies might not. Good video and well done!!

Those work great for guitar. I made mine the same shape as the headstock of the Gibson guitar I had at the time. I also added a spacer that I cut out of the same wood with a hole saw so that the guitar doesn’t hang so close to the wall.

Bought that same blade about 10 years ago, bolted it in the saw, grabbed a scrap of wood because I was excited to try it out and sawed right through a hidden nail lengthwise. Chipped a couple of teeth. So mad at myself. Needless to say it was pretty useless after that. Fast forward to a couple of months ago, purchase a new one and have to say I’m impressed so far.

Thanks for commenting. It is a decent blade. I just gave it a very difficult task. I’m sure ripping pressure treated lumber would have been a struggle for any blade with my table saw. Maybe if I had a more powerful table saw?

Really sorry you got injured. That looks so painful. Good to make videos about things like this. Those small parts are the ones that usually get you whether you’re sawing, sanding or routing. How about screwing a small piece of wood to end to act as a hook like on a push block. You can replace when it wears out. Should last a while because it can only wear down to the thickness of the thinnest piece that you sand with it.

It helps support the piece a bit. Not necessary, but I do think it makes the cuts a tad safer and avoids the small risk of the piece tipping over.

Great questions. There are many different types of pins you can use. I use the nickel plated 5mm Shelf Pins. That are only about $6 for a 50 pack on Amazon. These pins are rated for a max of 25lbs per pin, so 100lbs per shelf. I probably wouldn’t go over 50lbs though.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I still think it’s a descent blade. I was just pushing it past it’s limits. I was ripping pressure treated lumber at a 45 degree angle. After doing some research I have found it’s not a great idea to rip pressure treated lumber. This blade did do a good job ripping a piece of pine, but so did my other combination blade.

@kennethwallace5168 11 ай бұрын
@@BrattonBuilt still going to pass. Especially if it will only cut decent in a piece of pine that's not very thick. I'm starting to think a 30 dollar blade is just that...a cheap blade. It's wishful thinking that it will cut like higher end blades. They want to use the "made by Freud" sales pitch to get your money but it apparently doesn't cut like one. It's a rip blade for crying out loud...if it can't cut yellow pine what will it do in 1 1/2 inches of maple? If I want to just get a board in two pieces with out concern for tool marks, I'll just use my stack of old blades and use the $30-$35 for a pizza!
