May I ask what type of orchid you have in the pots in the right? Those are my grandmas favorite and she used to grow them all the time.
@FlowerPrinceGardenАй бұрын
Hello, it’s a Cymbidium orchid. They are usually sold in bloom in select supermarkets and garden centers during winter time, and at orchid society shows during winter and spring.

Where the sun heats up the soil very much maybe you should use brown mulch instead of black mulch. Black mulch gets hotter than brown.

It’s looking so good! The bulb foliage is always like that. Best thing to do is plant something like catmint that will come up as the bulb foliage starts to die back. It might not cover everything but it will cover up a lot and distract from the “mess” of withering foliage

Wonderful such a biodiversity! By the way, I grew learning that nothing is a weed :-)) there is always a bird, a bee, a bug, a ladybug, a butterfly etc that loves something; so no matter how one perceive a particular plant, each is of huge importance for our own eyes and soul but non the less for the wild life out there.

🐝 🦋 Indeed, thank you very much for your thoughts. I am planning on planting the 6-pack of Jupiter’s Beard in other areas, so we will have to see how it spreads. 😅
@K.KleopatraK.2 ай бұрын
@@FlowerPrinceGarden I don't find Centranthus ruber aka Valeriana rubra aka "jupiter´s beard" as being invasive as some websites say. But we have cold winters here (-10 up to -15 grad Celsius) so maybe that's the difference. I know it may grow spontaneous here and there but nothing out of the ordinary, actually seldom. I own the plant and there is also its sister in white and both love drought, similar to lavender. I love them all and all are so much loved by butterflies. I am new to your channel, I discovered you today so look forward to you/your plants and garden. Wish you great time! ☺😁

Thanks so much! Yes, I think the botanists have now officially called it Valeriana rubra. 😆 They are absolutely all over the East Bay Area roadsides. It’s quite a spectacle to drive and just see them everywhere. I also have one of the white version, and excited to see it grow and bloom.

I recommend contacting Sloat Garden Centers and SummerWinds Nursery in the Bay Area and Green Acres Nursery & Supply in the Sacramento Area. Magnolias are commonly sold in garden centers beyond the big box stores.

Beautiful daffodils ❤ My daffodil leaves are green but they do not stand up like yours? Mine needs more water?
@FlowerPrinceGarden3 ай бұрын
This is more complex than just a simple answer, actually. Many factors could cause this, but mine are in full sun, planted at correct depth (varies according to variety), and not being overwatered. On the other hand, quickly warming temperatures can also cause stems and leaves to stretch too swiftly. As well, if the ground or soil dries up, and the daffodil plants start going dormant (returning energy back to the bulb), then, their leaves and stems also start weakening.
