So happy you're feeling better. Your week reminded me of being home sick as a kid and watching game shows. 😂😂 At least you had some great movies to burn through. I need to revisit that Atom Egoyan set myself. So many gems. I also need to jump in to the Wan Kar Wai set; I've only seen 3 movies in that one. I have Twin Peaks and you have no idea how many times I meant to start the series and move on to, Walk Fire With Me and I just keep putting it off. I've heard it's great though. I've moved both from the shelf to the watch pile so thank you for that. ❤ Lucky is another that I need to watch. I grabbed it because I love HDS and I just keep forgetting to watch. 😅😅 I thought Alone was such a creepy movie that freaked me out. That's one of me fears; being followed like that. Another great week of movie journal and I'm looking forward to finding out where we go from here. Go easy and love ya, my friend. ❤

Loving this series! Pulp Fiction one of the most rewatchable movies of all time. What a movie. I’ve been rewatching Twin Peaks recently as well. There’s a great Twin Peaks rewatch podcast called The Detective and the Log Lady that’s worth checking out. This is my third time watching the series and it’s fun to watch along with them. I haven’t watched much recently but I rewatched The Gunfighter today and enjoyed more the second time around. Gregory Peck is so good in it.

Excellent! Pulp Fiction is a forever classic and always valuable as a rewatch, everything about it is done so well even if it is disturbing. Instead of Twin Peaks, I am watching the Fargo series, which has been pretty good so far and has both a familiar and new cast that has performed well. A few parts are a bit cartoony to me, but I'm good with that so far. I never watched the Fargo movie, so I hope this was not a bad move to watch the series instead. Thank you so much for those reviews! Wow, did you knock out a lot of movies! Glad you are back on your feet and thanks for rating your reviews and giving us your words of wisdom. Really, really happy you have moved to this film watching journey and not JUST collecting. This has been really excellent!

Very interesting and fun discussion! I don't know that much about New Jersey beyond what I've seen in movies/shows, but I'm a huge fan of the Sopranos, and I'm glad it was mentioned in the chat. And as a huge hockey fan and a passionate NHL follower, I of course know about the New Jersey Devils. I can also relate to growing up and living in a place where there is nothing cultural going on.

So nice seeing two of my favorite KZfaqrs in conversation! If Stephanie considers herself a "fossil", then I qualify as an ancient mummy from the Ice Age! Both of you talked about the era of one-screen theaters. I go all the way back to the 1950s, so I know that era very well. I remember standing in long lines to see movies. We lined up all the way around the block to see The Exorcist in the dead of winter. A few years later, we lined up for two blocks to see Star Wars. It was just normal, so I didn't think anything about it. One major thing about that era: we weren't overwhelmed with choices like we are now. In a way, I think we did cherish things a little more, because going out to see a new movie was an event and a communal experience. Besides, in the 50s and 60s, if you missed seeing a movie at the theater, you probably wouldn't have a chance to see it again, unless it showed up on TV many years down the road. As much as I love being able to collect films, there are many things about that old world that I would go back to in a heartbeat. I was surprised when Stephanie showed SILENT SCREAM, which is an important film for us diehard fans of Barbara Steele, who gives an amazing performance near the end of the film. I remember seeing it in the theater in 1980.

Hey Nathan, wow thank you so much for your kind words! Incredibly generous of you, and really appreciate the spotlight 😊It's such a pleasure to see you making videos again and enjoying your collecting and watching. I couldn't agree more with your sentiments about the Three Colours trilogy. One of the most fulfilling and incredible cinema journeys that I've ever had the pleasure of taking, and calling it a spiritual experience I think is spot on. (Also, I think Blue is now my favourite of the three as well, coming off my most recent re-watch, and Juliette Binoche is just astonishing in it.) Funnily enough I also had some similar thoughts about watching them with some space between, but I ended up just doing them back to back in the same day as I just couldn't help myself during my last re-watch! Making your way through Twin Peaks has also inspired me to give it ago again. I remember a few years ago I decided to dive in for the first time, but I kind of binged it and ran out of steam before I reached the end, so I never finished it or got to see Fire Walk with Me, (which I've heard nothing but the highest praise for). I definitely need to track down that boxset and take the full journey! Again thanks so much for the shoutout, and definitely look forward to hanging out and enjoying a couple pints together next time your in the UK 😄🍻

Question: Is "Three Colours" subtitled? I struggle with complicated dialogue in subtitled foreign films. Yes, I can keep up but for me it just takes away from the movie trying to read and keep up with the visual. I have watched the Three Musketeers and enjoyed it to my surprise. It was fun and witty and well done. I was not aware of the Four Musketeers so if you say it is even better, I am on it. The Hudsucker Proxy was interesting. I enjoyed it and only watched it because it was on TV or HBO or something and I just gave it a shot. The great cast helped a lot even though it was not exactly my cup of tea. I have to see if Twin Peaks is on any of the streaming platforms. As long as it does not suck at the end like "Lost" and "Game of Thrones" (just the ending) I will give it a look. I still need to watch "Fargo" as well. I am behind.

Interesting list. In 1994 I was doing very little besides working seven nights a week, so the cinematic releases of that year, and most years in that time period, remain a mystery. However, I did go to see Reality Bites, which I liked very much, and which introduced me to Ethan Hawk, my #1 actor of this modern era. I also went to see Serial Mom, which was OK, but I wasn't crazy about it. John Waters is a mixed blessing for me. Regarding Pulp Fiction, I came late to that particular party and didn't see it until many years later on DVD. I like many things about it, but I haven't joined the cult. My life thus far has been free of all incarnations of Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream and Scary Movie. That is unlikely to change. The other films you mentioned are titles I'm not at all familiar with, but I enjoyed your comments about them. The Color Trilogy sounds intriguing.

The first movie I watched way too young that terrified me, was The Omen, I think I was 9. Turned it off at the cemetery scene and decided to read comics instead. Soon afterwards I happened to catch Alien. Gave me nightmares. Another one I watched too young was Poltergeist, such a fantastic movie that holds up more than most. I also was terrified of Pennywise and Mr Toomy from The Langoliers back then. Now, they are comical but hey. The Shining really creeped me out and made me realize that I love psychological horrors. The first horror I watched in the cinema was Scream, I think it's the only movie that made me hallucinate in the middle of the day. Ju-On the Curse, the first TV movie was the first Japanese horror movie I watched. What an introduction. When The Conjuring came out I thought myself a seasoned horror watcher but there were some scenes that got under my skin. The latest movie that scared me was Hereditary. Gave me hope for the genre.

Lair of the White Worm is certainly an interesting film, I studied it as part of my university course 😂 The TV version of The Woman in Black is also really great, kinda preferred it to the Daniel Radcliffe adaptation. If you're looking for movie recommendations, check out River from Third Window films. It's a follow-up time loop movie from director Junta Yamaguchi, really well constructed storyline with romance and humour
