I, in my educated ignorance, call this 'hip-hop jazz": tied to the streets, with hard work and collaboration of first-rate musicianship ... 🔥

I was listening to this cut long before Notorius BIG sampled it. It has a nice groove to it. Go Dave Grusin!❤

Awesome song, lyrics and album. Brings back great memories in college when we were dissecting all music that was part of the black experience at that time in 1974 It starts slow and sad but climaxes powerfully. "So I feared my greatest fear about you..." Cried my Last tear so that you will never know I healed myself inside and walked away...

The sample drew me in but the original is a masterpiece by itself. Not only did Big sample this this but so did Faith, and I’ve heard Mary has an unreleased joint using it as well.

The fact that everything is going on with P. Diddy, one thing you cannot deny he was lit with the music. This sample is a fool.

Big ups to Dave Grusin for the creation and big ups to Biggie for allowing a classic to breathe again it’s all artistry and trust and believe Bad Boy paid for it! Because Dave is a shrewd businessman if nothing else!!!!
