Im surprised so few of the builds have incorporated an infeed table. Even a 6" would be a great addition. Not a criticism. Im just curious why you chose to NOT add an infeed table to your design. I'm in process of deciding how to build a rolling cart for my new DWE7485. Thanks for any insignts.

FYI Yellow/orange is use to filter a blue light color. green is used to filter red lasers. yes green will filter blue but it is much less effective than yellow. Green glasses are common (and therefor cheaper) because it works for red and blue lasers. but its not as good on blue as it is for red.

As a beginner this saw is ok. For a construction job it will do. For anything else you will be disappointed. I bought one as a beginner but as I got better I realized the saw was holding me back. If I had it to do over again I wouldn't buy this saw. Do yourself a favor and spend the money for a good saw. You will save money in the long run.

thanks for sharing this project with the craftsman table saw. while i absolutely regret getting this table saw (mostly due to the non-standard tracks) -- it's nice to see content for saws beside the dewalt, delta and ridgid. i see all those craftsman tools -- but was surprised see the milwaukee jigsaw (lol).

I have a few tips to make this cabinet easier to use. First, instead of L brackets, cut a rabbet from a piece of 2x2 wood and cut it into 1/2-inch sections. Lay them flat on the cabinet floor and glue them so they hold the engraver tightly between them. This way, you can easily take it out to use on larger projects. Second, make pass-through doors so you can do longer projects. Wheels would allow you to use the pass-through doors to accommodate longer projects.

Plastic is just some acrylic sheet from Home Depot (since it's mainly just enclosing the space for the laser, this should work fine), and I originally used some green tinting film, but was corrected by another viewer that it should be orange. Just search "orange tinting film" on Amazon, and you should find something that works (can confirm that this is the right way to go)
@agarza6475
@agarza6475 9 ай бұрын
@@diywithry Using regular window tint is incorrect. Lasers put out light at a particular frequency and the safety acrylic that is required must be that same frequency, otherwise all you are doing is damaging your eyes with colored laser light. Because of the specific frequency, the acrylic will be significantly more expensive. Good design for the cabinet!!

I just made a 4’x4’ bench for my 8.25” Dewalt Job site saw, but used Pocket Holes to screw the table top to the support 2x4’s, using the cheapest Kregg Jig. First time use of pocket holes. More time consuming, but cleaner look on top. Retirement hobby, so learning new skills every week. You’re the only other person I’ve found who made a 4’x4’. I like the size, and made it the the Ht. At 10:00 …how did you make sure your clamped straight edge was cutting square to the blade ?
@diywithry
@diywithry 11 ай бұрын
I measured out 2 locations, front and back of the blade, and marked it on the table top. Then used a carpenters square to try and keep it squared to those lines. In the end, I think I just made sure it was as squared as possible, with just a slight outward angle to prevent binding on the blade

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice kzfaq.infoUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

Good design but the green glasses and windows are the wrong colour. When working with blue diode lasers you need the protection to be opposite colour on the colour spectrum which for blue is red or orange. The glasses supplied with these cheap lasers are ineffective and more often than not are the wrong colour. It may seem that the beam is being subdued but the danger is still very much present.

I have this table saw. I like it and I agree on all the cons you mentioned. I would like to make a sleds for this saw but don’t know how to go about making runners(slides)due to the tabs on the mitre slots. I’m afraid to saw off the tab;afraid I might mess it up. I also seem to have trouble cutting wood square to the fence. I had been using a 1”x1”x3’ aluminum bar taped to the l wood to cut straight. Wish you had video on making a sleds for the Craftsman saw since the measurements would the same. Great job on your videos. I plan on making a few projects you mentioned.😊
@diywithry
@diywithry Жыл бұрын
Thank you, glad you enjoy the videos! As for the sled, I do have plans to make a video regarding that, just takes me a while to clear the schedule for it. On the miter slots, it may seem daunting, but I always recommend cutting off the tabs as they are more of a hindrance than helpful. The fence one is new to me. I think there's a way to adjust the squareness of the stock fence, but it is a good idea to have something attached to the fence as a sacrificial piece when making close cuts

Really nice job but for a 200 dollar saw I think it’s not worth all that - the lumber and supplies are going to cost double the saw price and the saw is only going to last a couple years especially with plastic gears for raising and lowering the blade
@diywithry
@diywithry Жыл бұрын
That's fair, the material cost and the quality of the saw definitely puts into question the necessity of this workbench. In my case, this was the only saw I could afford at the time I was starting, and I intended this workbench to serve multiple purposes

How did you build your sleds? The tabbed slots are a challenge when building any jigs.
@diywithry
@diywithry Жыл бұрын
I actually ended up cutting off the tabs in the miter slots to make it easier to make sleds. More than anything, I just found them to be annoying. If you're not comfortable cutting them off however, I'd reccomend measuring the gap under the tabs, then between the tabs, cutting 2 pieces of wood to fit both those areas, and then gluing them together under your sled

Built about 25 decks , 40 patio roofs sometimes with tongue and groove and quite a few pergolas and this was the table saw we used over the past 3 years. The motor finally crapped out on us about 2 months ago. This thing went through the ringer and lasted waaayyy longer than it should have for $200. That said if you have long boards it will likely pop your breaker as it tends to overheat quickly, but if you're taking your time building with this thing it will do perfectly fine.

I've had this table saw for a couple years. I really enjoy it, and I've made some pretty good stuff with it. My biggest (and only real gripe) is the miter gauge that comes with it. The thing is absolute garbage. Loose fit, 90* doesn't = 90* on the gauge, and it wobbles around a degree or two either way while sawing. I've really enjoyed this table saw though, and am watching your vide on building a bench around it since my little garage is becoming a do-it-all garage and still needs to fit my Crown Vic (single car garage, so it's REALLY snug). Welding, wood working, car repair, and general DIY stuff.

Agree with ya on the miter gauge. I've only used it twice. I'd reccomend building miter sled though, as I use it in just about every project and it can be a lot better than the gauge
