I can't stand the subtitles. So annoying. Why do people do that? I couldn't watch the video past 2 minutes.

how much power from solar does the split aircon use?
@careyrouse12 ай бұрын
I have 1100 watts of solar. But in terms of usage, all usage goes through the battery. And the AC at full power is only drawing 750 Watts and once it gets down to temperature it runs at a lower speed and maintains the temperature with only 200 to 250 watts. It's super efficient

@@careyrouse1 Interesting. Can I ask the brand.

There is a link to a spreadsheet in the description of this video and it should provide the price and the exact device or part for every single thing I used on the van. I wasn't sure if you wanted the manufacturer of the AC or the panels or the battery but you can get all of it from that spreadsheet. If it doesn't work or you can't find it please let me know and I'm happy to get you that link

Nice video & nice van 🚐👍👍. Having lived it in some is there anything you would add or take away if u were starting from scratch today?
@careyrouse13 ай бұрын
Thank you. It actually turned out way better than I could have imagined. If I did it again I would try to figure out some other material besides wood everywhere. I would like it to have more of a finished look with material that's not wood. But I think given what I had in terms of skills and material and money, I don't know what I could have done better. I'm still kind of shaking my head in disbelief that literally everything is working perfectly.

Thanks for the info on F.Transit. Brake, armrest, battery, etc..more reasons to get a RAM! Roof rack, wrong volts…many a cautionary tale!! Link for fire extinguisher please.
@careyrouse14 ай бұрын
I'm glad you found it helpful. I will say that I did test drive two or three Rams prior to getting the Ford Transit. My goal was to drive across country almost every weekend for Motorsport races. So I needed to have real comfort sitting in that seat for a long time and I found that the lack of tilt in the RAM steering wheel was completely unacceptable. I couldn't even get comfortable on a short test drive so I decided that the RAM was not for me.

EVERY van has something we want to add or change. Like other cars and trucks, they all have options. This one did not have the cruise option but others do. Also the arm rest is easy to simply add an after market armrest cushion, to add on top of existing armrest, from Amazon. The handbrake is only an issue with some swivel seats. There are also Transits with factory swivel seats. Can not blame Ford for his custom roof rack. I like both Promaster and Transit. Both have "cautionary tales." Promasters cargo area, for example, is not great for someone over 6' tall, and the seating height and angle is not comfortable.

I would absolutely help you if I knew of anybody in Austin but I do not. When I decided that I was going to do it myself I didn't even look to find out who else could do it. My suggestion would be to join some online forums or Facebook groups because those people have all kinds of opinions and information that might be helpful.

Here's a tip. Pull out the zoom on the camera so that you show as much of the van as possible, and not just the one little area you're shooting. There is no sense of what your van actually looks like.
