Baltany makes a perfectly good monopusher EXCEPT they didn't cut in a date window, the movement had a date but, for some reason, they though month and day of week was fine lol. PLEASE ask them to cut in the damn date.

It’s a stunning watch but the dial material is fragile. I’ve had two of these same ones and both developed hairline fissures connecting the markers. Neither have been dropped

Enjoyed the review Mike and I like the look of the watch - a bit too big for my taste but a pretty looking machine. I have to disagree with you regarding the day/date Vs chronograph though. Since I retired I never know what day it is 🤣

The Longines is 14.1mm tall, so that's probably the reason why Baltany have followed suit. Silly, really, since the automatic needs more room than this rather more simple movement.

I think it is a beautiful watch even though it is a homage but not in totality. Nice Miyota movement instead of the usual NH series. 🎉

Calendar - a very slow chronograph 😀

The Longines has thin white seconds and subdials hands that look good, but the Longines has an alligator strap which looks really, really stupid for the type of time period it homages, I'd prefer this but with a canvas strap and try and buy some thin white hands to replace the ones that are no good.

Thanks for the review Mike. As you mentioned its no good for those that use their right wrist for watches. But I'm not too sure I would want one even if the dial was indexed the other way. Never mind, still a interesting review.

I’ve never had any interest in vintage style watches, but Baltany is single-handedly changing my mind. With that said, even though I’m a “Date Only” guy, this one is a bit expensive for my taste. Still an interesting and cool watch though. Thanks for the thorough review!

Thanks for the comprehensive review Mike. I know its an homage, but this one I don't like at all, I'm afraid. Swapping a chronograph for a day/date makes thus feel like the "Longines we have at home". You're right about the blued hands against the black dial being hard to read too.

I would like to see a vk63 or vk64 movement assembled in that type of case and overall style , as a bullhead chronograph . ❤

the back would really pop with blued screws, especially holding the rotor on, mirroring the blued second hand on the front. Much as i like it, i agree that the sub dial hands aren't great on a dark dial, but on a pale one would be excellent

Hi mate, Are you planning on selling this one? It seems you can only buy this model now with all 24 numbers on the bezel which is a massive shame and I won’t buy. Just looks too cluttered. This exact one I will buy though

For people like me who only want quartz watches Watch Dives produce a BB54 series with the VH31 movement. I have bought the version that is similar to your reviewed watch. Its only downside imho is that if you want the gilt bezel then the lume is distinctly yellow. This is not enough to spoil the watch but it is annoying given that the lume on the other versions is not like this. For £90 as a new release it is excellent value and it will no doubt drop in price over time.

I purchased the steel version of this watch one year ago. I agree that the price is steep, but they can easily be found on the 2nd hand market for about $500. I paid the extra money because I didn't want the hassle if I wasn't happy with it. First, I disagree that this watch isn't legible in the sun. It's perfectly legible. You just have to look at the watch straight on. That's one of the reason Hamilton claims this watch costs more. It's a dual LCD/LED watch, so that you can see the time in the light without pressing the button. I think it works perfectly fine. Second, the bracelet is one of the best that Hamilton makes. It's comfortable, it tapers nicely, it's just sweet. Third, and this I can only speak from my personal experience, it's by far, the most accurate watch I own. After a year of testing it every other week, it's running at -.02 sec/day. -. 02. That's about a second a month. That's flipping amazing for an $800 watch if you ask me. I agree that I wish it had a date. But then, I think of how many watches I wish DIDN'T have a date, like almost all Grand Seikos. And how many watches I love without the date, like a Rolex Sub or Explorer. So, I try to think of the PSR as a super accurate, reto-cool, three hander watch. Then, I'm ok without the date 😉

Very pleased to see they did away with the sapphire display back and put that money towards the bracelet. Very wise decision.

Have the black, stunning watch for the price. Don't dismiss the black one, its a washed out matt tropical dial , it looks natural aged and not overly done.

I am going to say something people are not going to like. If they stuck a Seiko VH31 movement into this I would be all over it. It would never be off my wrist.

Great video. I really like the orange bezel with the gray dial, as well as the chunky outer ring grips.

I have noticed their prices are starting to go up, with no obvious improvements to the products other than their popularity. Might be time for me to start looking elsewhere. Thanks for sharing.

I just ordered the white marble version. I am a fan of white dial watches and this added something’s little more special. For Chinese watches in general I have had hit and miss success. Sugess, seestern, san Martin seem to produce fantastic products but pagani and some others leave something to be desired.
