Maybe try some other non Yonex 16x20 or 18x19 options before moving back to the VC95? I feel like the issue you mentioned when you switched (re returning with the 95) may come to bother you again, especially as you face more and more good servers as you move up the ranks. Racquets that immediately come to mind are the Gravity MP, Prokennex Qi+ 5 Pro (a sleeper this one tbh, I think you’d like it), and the T Fight ISO 305 (I recall you liked this one when you tested it). Wish you the best of luck regardless!!

Unfortunately not the time for a radical change. I know the 95 very well, it is a comfortable feeling and for now it should do the trick. Some trade offs but I think it will help ATM. Once season is over I might do some more testing

I'm going to do the same thing I have been absolutely obsessed with tennis since I was 11 I just got done with playing community college and I had a pretty bad season I ended up with super low self confidence. Then I realized that the only thing I really care about rn is tennis it's my whole life tbh. So now I plan on taking 2 years off of school/tennis just to really find myself and have a things I'm interested outside of tennis. When I get back though I still plan on going to 4 year college.

why dont you use the Vcore 98 or 98 tour or the percept 97? Why go from 100 to 95 and vice versa, without going in between?

If you ever need a onewheel buddy to ride with (don't think I can compare to your dogs though lol) Id love to join you after a rally or something!! As a 4.0 player I probably cant offer a lot of practice but at least LA and OC has some of the best roads and trails for onewheeling!!

Karue, just my observation from what I have seen is that Percept 100D was helping you a bit on the Forehand side (although it did not really need much help in my opinion :), but maybe was taking away a little from your great BH. Regarding your serve, I always thought that you have an incredible serve, but since your ground strokes and returns are so good like Agassi, Connors, and Borg (on days you hit with more shape), you did not need to rely too much on it. Racket choices are tricky situations as you know better than just about anyone yourself (maybe with the exception of TennisNerd :). As an older recreational player, I love the VCore 98 (they did not crack yet :), but against some players I miss the bigger size Prince Oversize Graphite and love hitting forehands with it, although it is tough serving with it compared to VCore 98. Honestly I think you can play with any of these rackets (VCore 95, 98, Percept 100D, or anything else) and when you are playing your best you can beat anyone in my opinion. Anyway, good luck with your racket choice(s).

appreciate it. Unfortunately at the highest level, serve is so critical. And switching mid season is not ideal so just trying to keep a comfortable feeling with the 95 that I already know well

The Percept 100D is really a slow racket. Before you switch back to Vcore95, maybe a low tension of 22/21 Kg with a very soft poly with a trampoline effect would be an option. A friend gave it to me to test and I personally think that a lower tension with the Percept 100d is a great combo. A perfect mix of speed, power and control.

I can’t stand trampoline effect. It is literally what I hate the most in any stringing job. So for now I will likely just go back to the 95 for the time being as it is a fairly comfortable feeling to get back to

@MyTennisHQ, re:cracked racket, do you think that stringing at such a high tension is beyond the limits of the frame? Not sure what tension others are stringing their Percepts at that have this issue? Another thought is stringers are overly aggressive with their clamps 🤷On another note, did you stick a leather grip on your VC95 2023? Currently still playing with a customised VC95 2021(leather grip, weight at 10 & 2) and recently picked up a VC95 2023, so debating whether to play it stock or customised.

If I remember correctly, you said you wanted more power and larger sweet spot when you changed to Percept, so an obvious question is why not VCore 98 (or 100)?
@proshepherd
@proshepherd Күн бұрын
The VCORE 95 is legitimately so incredibly good on serve. I just couldn't figure out if the slight unpredictability on returning and some ground strokes was worth the trade-off for the bigger serve. Ended up going with the Babalot pure strike 9818x20 and have really been liking it. It has just a little bit more power and spin than the VCore97D in my opinion

Patrick actually says when you're right eye dominant you should look more forward during the forehand than when your cross dominant (being right handed). Why did you decide then you should tilt your head more to the side to watch the ball? Instead of keeping your head still but still looking forward a bit more?
