For those wondering why we are only allowed to see the backs of the singers, here is the reason why. This is not an opera in the traditional sense. This is called a "Concert Opera". While the conductor conducts, the singers who are wearing semi-formal attire, are sitting on chairs near the edge of the stage. When it's their turn to perform, they stand up and sing. Then they either leave the stage, or they sit back down. This was performed in Leeds, England in 2016. This city doesn't have the money for expensive costumes or pricey props and scenery, so this is the next best thing to experiencing an opera, especially one of this massive size.

I attended a concert performance of the Rheingold many years ago in Cleveland Ohio. It changed me thinking about music and life. What a great performance by Opera North.

I don’t know what this was a trailer for? Is it for a specific symphony in the United States?
@darrinac15 күн бұрын
It's a concert in the UK. Opera North is a British opera company based in the north of England. They're giving a concert in Millennium Square in Leeds

The conductor had the easiest job - sneaking a baton in is not very hard compared to a Trombone or a Harp.

People like to say that Beethoven and Bach are the Greatest, in my mind they don't stand close to Wagner! Wagner is Rich, Deep, and Complex - wrote the Music and the Opera! I remember hearing this for the first time on the Radio, KQED around early 1970s! I was Spellbound!
