Great vid as always! I recommend a free plugin called "PLUGINS THAT KNOCK" for punchy drums, great for kicks.

If I'm making house music, would you recommend anchoring a mix around the kick at the same level? I tend to be significantly higher than this, more like -5ish. I'm a bit of a beginner, and this has always been a question I can't get a solid answer to. It's hard to get good headroom for a master track at -5, but any lower and it feels like my final product comes out much quieter than a reference track. I'm applying EQ and compassion to my master, and have a limiter on there too. Am I squashing my music buy doing this?
