NcStar makes a nice unit that's only a few dollars. I bought two but one had a loose snap. It still worked fine. I had the snap repaired in yhe end for free. I dunno if it was a fluke or if half of the ones made have faulty snaps. I still plan on buying more so it isn't that big of a deal. Another method is the tongue depresser and rubber bands. You can use any strip of rigid plastic instead of a wooden tongue depresser. The rubber bands work better than the hair ties because they'll break if you yank hard enough no matter what. Hair ties can get tangled as shown.

Definitely going to show this to my dad. I know he’d love it for a cover blanket while sitting up against a tree. It can get cold just sitting in the woods waiting for a deer to come out. I think this would be a fun afternoon project for us to try together. Thank you

Got a similar build going on, but didn’t buy knockoff comms. Just using Peltor sound-traps and running the ear piece that comes with the baofeng uv9r kit through the ear pro. Definitely not perfect, but it works. Comms are a good way to get yourself killed anyways, i plan on staying off the radio as much as possible. In the process of building some 3d printed PVS 69 binoculars, found some Chinese gen 2+ mx10160 intensifier tubes for a steal ($800 each)

Interesting. How much time until the heat begins to disapate off the blanket? I was thinking of doing something similar but with weathered glass since it completely blocks IR.
@rothesayprepper
@rothesayprepper Жыл бұрын
Ya that's good for IR but if you moving or worried about being seen blankets are the way to go. Glass would be to heavy and fragile to be constantly moving or carrying plus and white light or even during the day you risk a glare or being seen

The mount is just a g24 Wilcox mount clone. Not sure what description was given to you when buying this, but Aor1 is a type of NSWDG camouflage... An aor1 Wilcox mount does not exist. It's like saying "multicam Wilcox mount"

done this last year, beware, the tyvek suit will break very fast during movement , I recomend before use turn inside out and use either white duct tape of white gaffers tape on the inside for the front of your legs all the way down, your elbows and shoulders, and contact points where kit will sit, it will make it last a little longer, keep tape on hand to repair holes, make a few bacuse they will break fast, but if your ballin on a budget is a good last ditch, 50 bucks can buy you a usgi top and bottoms overwhites and would be cheaper in the long run compare to buying many tyvec suits

Almost a bad comparison when you use a FAKE Leatherman RAPTOR ... I would not expect them to even done as good as they did. "regular" scissors did a great job compared to the TRAUMA shears ( wonder what a high quality pair might have done ? ) XSHEARS in 2022 are going for about $40 ... I ordered a few and have high expectations for those ! ! ! ! ! ! !
@rothesayprepper

Ya the X-Shears are the way to go especially when Raptors are $120, they are nice if your looking for a compact solution. But I do prefer the simplicity and heavy duty of the X-Shears.
