The Strand likely sold out. There are a bunch of signed GRRM titles over at Beastly Books, though I don't see these particular titles. www.beastlybooks.com/

I have no idea how long this series is gonna be, but this is a prequel series to Quaintrell's Echoes Saga, which is 9 books in total!

Oh wow, I hadn't realized! I wonder if The Broken Binding will eventually do the Echoes Saga.

$400 for this book? I just bought a used copy at abebooks for only $7 hardcover edition.

Yeah... It's more of an appreciation for the quality of the production than just getting a copy to read. They're not for everyone, to be sure.

I think Sub Press needs to step up their title selection. Just one man’s opinion, nothing against KSR or this title.

David Ho seems to be almost the resident artist for Centipede....... great fantasy artist tho !
@splync11 күн бұрын
True! Though I feel like he hasn't done much for them lately. He used to do several titles for them each year, but I don't think he's done anything since the two Hallahan titles in 2022.

I spoke to David via email when I purchased a book from him last year. He told me he was stepping away from doing artwork and didn’t know when/if that would change. If he happens to see this, I hope things are going well (better) for him and still hope to see more artwork from him in the future. He has always been a favorite.

Always happy to see Quentin S. Crisp's work getting more coverage. I genuinely believe him to be the finest writer of fiction working today. I own a copy of pretty much every book Quentin S. Crisp has ever written, but, unfortunately, I couldn't quite justify the cost of shipping a copy of this one over to the UK.

Have heard a lot of good things about this one, Is this book actually “scary” ? Is it more true crime lines or supernatural? Been in a reading slump and books that have been recommended as scary have turned out true crime ish. Thanks!

Its the problem of the FOMO. to be it is a plague and is making buy stuff I really can't afford it. I am now trying to cut back but is hard...bah. I hope you enjoy the novel. At least you know if by some reason you don't enjoy you can sell it for profit. That's the good thing with special editions eheh

I was super excited to read this one and it was indeed a solid debut...but there are some glaring things that are hard to get past sometimes....I still enjoyed this one though. 7/10 The plot is very intriguing, the "good guys" lose the war and are now occupied...so what do you do now....love it. But yeah, some spoilers below on the things that are annoying. ***SPOILERS**** -The characters could get fleshed out a bit more...especially the "bad guys" -While there are quite a few characters....2 of the biggest characters are freaking children....a GrimDark, nasty world, and it's children that are either bad asses or the most important part of what's going on. A smallish 19 year old girl is somehow the most badass swordsman...even though she RELENTLESSLY tells you how much of a Coward she is....she was pretty damn annoying with that...but no worry....2 days later she's slaying people and flying demons....yeah, sure. Then the other is a 15-16 old boy who is the master "rogue" of the town who can handle most situations....yeahhh...ok. -The last scene of the book where they are escaping the town on the boat...they get attacked by 5 flying demons...these demons who pretty much dominate everyone throughout the book....but all of a sudden these 2 children, in a small boat...can kill 2 of them without much issue and then a separate boat can shoot the rest with arrows, even though earlier in the book those same flying demons were easily evading arrows in other confrontations.

Not gonna lie, I genuinely think that the Standard Edition is superior. The only difference between them is the slipcase and boards, and frankly, I think the boards for the Standard Edition are prettier, quarter-bound in that gorgeous marbled cloth, and with the Amethyst symbol debossed and stamped with purple and gold foil. Honestly, if I had a choice between them, I'd always buy the Standard Edition. For such a huge price discrepency, you'd think the Deluxe Edition would have more art or features that the Standard doesn't have. But the interiors are identical, so it really doesn't seem worth it, to me. In fact, even if the Deluxe Edition were CHEAPER than the Standard, I'd prefer the Standard, because it also has the amazing, gorgeous dust jacket. I feel the same about The Blade Itself. I honestly prefer the Standard Edition, cause Tommy Arnold's dust jacket is a huge reason for wanting the book, and the other edition just doesn't have it for some reason.
