This show, Keeping up Appearances and Fawlty Towers are 3 of the best britcoms ever. Are You Being Served and As Time Goes By are also great. Last of the Summer Wine is another classic and very long running show. The brits really know comedy.

More of this movie needs to be seen. Very perceptive and rational arguments pinpointing systemic failure of neo classical and so called 'free market' economics failing to serve the vast majority of citizens.

it was ok but the funniest sitcom ever produced? No hun it wasn't lol Nowhere near it. Better than Only Fools and Horses? Blackadder? Fawlty Towers? Porridge? I could go on and on lol Was nowhere in the top half of any top sitcom every published.

To play devil's advocate, hoover inherited a shit storm. The christian fundamentalist temperance movement on prohibition is what created the economic downturn. It gave rise to mafias and gangs that hurt businesses and created crime and underground black markets and bank robberies (not insured) that took away local tax revenue. Hoover had to create the FBI to crack down on these practices. Because it was happening for years, it was an economic bubble waiting to pop. The government's position is to act as referee between the people, business and foreign affairs. FDR had to create national debt to create more government programs to rectify this. Before the 1930s it really was the wild west everywhere.

As an American I have never laughed harder in my life than at Waiting for God and Are You Being Served? We had absolutely nothing as good or as funny; I still watch reruns today every chance I get. Kudos to the Brits, they know how to laugh!

5 truly great series, only thing that made the 5th series a bit of a disappointment for me was that 'Basil the Bonker' (the actor Michael Bilton) died shortly after finishing the 4th series and i really missed him in the 5th series.

When the Americans try and do their versions of British sit-coms, they make a right mess of the job because they don`t really understand the type of Brit humour.
@sethflix2 жыл бұрын
Tell that to Norman Lear and "All in the Family" as well as the producers of "Three's Company", Both are American TV series that that ran for years, which were based on British sit-coms !
@sunshineandwarmth11 ай бұрын
They do, they just make American versions, wh aren't as good bc American English isn't spoken in the same way as British is. Wouldn't be much sense in making the same show, would it? It's the phrasing, isn't it? Americans speak more plainly, Brits more colorfully.
