You know, you had me until you put the SM58 ahead of the Neumann. I've used both extensively, and as a singer there's absolutely no comparison. The SM58 is a piece of junk next to the velvet experience of singing into a KMS 105. You've just lost all credibility. Adios.

Hello, thanks for the informative video. Where can I find the piano recording from 9mins onwards? Whoever it is, it's really nice. Thanks

The Neumann KMS105 microphone will always come out ahead. These are just wonderful microphones, as are the RE Series from Electrovoice.

Do you get paid bei RØDE or is this an advertisement? (btw. I like RØDE, use an NT1000 in my homestudio, but this review seems a little biased, to say the least)

Any one of these microphones are within that special 5% of superior fidelity, it's hard to wrong. But all things considered, the Rode look like the real winners as they are priced in the realm of the real world and punch considerably higher than their price would suggest. You literary cannot make a bad decision other than a financially bad decision amongst this lot

I don't know if these guys have spent a long time living in the UK, but they sound more like Brits who have picked up a bit of a Swedish accent, their English is that good - particularly the guy in black.

I've had the EV RE410 for about 5yrs and its awesome! I have a little weaker and less volume in the lower range so I've removed the bass ring so i can use the proximity effect for a bit more bass. Fantastic mic!

I did regret my buying rode m2 after having watched this review... I don't think the results are fair. But to me, SENNHEISER is one of the best. It is very rich and clear.
@eyedunno84624 жыл бұрын
For being the same cost as a run-of-the-mill SM58 beta, the M2 punches incredibly above its' weight. You'd have to spend a whopping $600 more for the Electrovoice or Niemen mics, or supply 6 singers with Rode M2s and it would still all be totally subjective.
@bmitchell9287 жыл бұрын
Av got the m2 but senni e865 wipes the floor with it, are you working for rode by any chance, obviously you have something against sennheisser mics

Microphones are all Over priced! This is Old technology..Patened in 60's ,70s & 80's..So the patens ran out about 15 -25 years ago! The Chinese (Or anybody) can reproduce any of them (Exactly) for about $0.50 of metal ,$0.50 in plastic and maybe a $4.00 magnet (For the dynamics)..... So they would double their money at $10. (Condensers should be cheaper) {Except the button mics have about 10 cents worth of material.}
@eyedunno84624 жыл бұрын
Honestly, no mic should cost over $300 at most. Paying $500 more for a KMS over an S1 is just unbelievable

hi guys, first thing, thank you very much for the video! i'm pleased. I'm from brazil, and starting my career, going to buy my first condenser live microphone, and I am in doubt about two mics, the at2010 and the rode m2. I would like to ask you guys, what of this two you would choice. And whose of them would have more gain before feedback, in live situations. Thank you very much guys! And sorry for the bad english. Greetings from Brazil.

Thanks for doing this. I have a general idea of what I want my mics to sound like, and this definitely helps. I found someone selling the RE410's sibling, the RE510, and ended up trying it. I wish there was a better place around here to try out mics like that.
@jansafarik3138 жыл бұрын
Sorry guys, your "feedback resistance test" is IMO complentely useless nonsens (if it was done the way its shown on the video). You can NOT measure feedback resistance ON AXIS (unless you are using wedges on stage right behind your head)! Great test anyway, what a pity that you have only a few mics included and some important models missing (mentioned KSM9, DPA d:facto and my favorite "budget" vocal condenser EV RE510 to name a few) but I understand that it would have to take enormous amount of time to test all the mics availabe on the market :-) . Anyway, your test is very well filmed and entertaining, thank you.

The differences in sound seem much more obvious on the male voice then on the 1st soprano. The Shure sounded terrible on the bass, but rather okay on the soprano. Neumann more natural, open and airy then the others, Sennheiser more "solid" and compact.

@avocalypsevokalgrupp54729 жыл бұрын
Hi Rey! Both of your choices are excellent for tenor voices in general. I do recommend you to test both of them before buying since the S1 has a strong presence lift around 5kHz which may give some voices a very harsh sound with more than pronounced S-T sounds. For most voices its fantastic. The Re410 doesn't have that kind of boost and would generally appear with a slightly warmer sound yet with a nice presence. Try them out! The AKG mics are really popular and generally good. Since we had to limit ourselves to 10 microphones we simply didn't had the time to test them out. Also, in a possible future test it would be nice to give the Shure condensers a try against the neumann and EV mice. Best regards, Nicklas Sellman, Avocalypse
@reydavidmaldonado9 жыл бұрын
thanks for the great review. I'm leaning toward the S1 or the re410 for myself a 2nd tenor... I'm wondering if you found the AKG's didn't perform well because you didn't mention them. they seem to be popular these days thanks for the advice 👍

listening test with eurolive pa? Man, I'm sure you were able to determine detail on those high quality drivers.
@avocalypsevokalgrupp547210 жыл бұрын
The whole point of the test was to test how the microphones sounded in a live setting. Therefor we used the equipment we use for live performance. There were obvious differences between the different microphones in this setup. Perhaps the result would have been different if the listening test had been done using studio equipment, but that would have been irrelevant in this case.
@roastruby10 жыл бұрын
Or better live equipment. I.E. Meyer or EAW. Something that is capable of accurately reproducing the frequencies that are being fed into it.
@fostervf169 жыл бұрын
Avocalypse vokalgrupp I don't think that would be irrelevant. You are giving results on mic quality. You should have used a quality speaker setup to listen to them. The behringers will extremely color the sound in a bad way. A higher quality mic can sound like crap through those speakers. The true quality of the mic will not be reproduced. Therefore your results will only be valid for people using behringer b215s. And those using b215s would probably never own a single one of these mics other than the 58. Fwiw as a vocal group you need a live speaker update.
@blackberryblossom8 жыл бұрын
The unwritten rules of music experts on the internet: No Behringer product can ever be any good, the Shure SM58 sucks... Really?

Great work, thank you so much ! I'm looking for a microphone for all sorts of vocalists, which doesn't sound thin or harsh once you back off from it. The KMS105 and M2's responses doesn't suggest any of this high mid (2.5 - 5kHz is the bothersome area usually) resonance design. The S1 does, with a slightly lesser that average boost at 4kHz. The KMS105 is out of my price range, do you remember any impressions from the M2 in that regard?
@nicklassellman103810 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam! Thank you for your response. It took us several month to perform this shootout so I do remember much from it. The M2 is probably the best microphone in the budget range but be aware... It didn't suit all of our members in Avocalypse ( actually it really performed bad on 2 singers ). If I'd been you I would have gone for EV RE410 or try the RE510 microphone which is selling around 250 dollars and seem to be good for all type of singers. I'm pretty sure you'll be satisfied and surprised how well these microphones perform. Hope you'll be happy with this answer
@WeDoHebrew10 жыл бұрын
Nicklas Sellman Hi Nicklas, Did you get any input from the live sound engineers about these mics, and how easy they were to work with technically, and how easy they were to fit into the mix? I'm looking for a versatile mic with expected results to replace the sm58, that I can use as default with any singer with confidence. That's even more of an issue with condensers, as well as the dynamics I've tried to replace the sm58 with. The sm58 sounds good+ on any sound system, with any singer, has good feedback rejection for a loud band. Any input is appreciated, thanks!
@Alexanification10 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your big test. But I really expexted to hear something from the final results in the video. Everything I heard came from the built in mics from the camcorder.
