I don't say this about people I admire, but damn I would love to have a conversation about almost anything with Stewart, my love of his work aside, he is such a amazing conversationalist, I love his interviews, so much detail.

Stewart has a unique grief on his back. Having both a musical giant and mutual inspiration in Neil passing and a torch of his carried flame snuffed out in Taylor, Stewart seems to be alone at the helm. It is sad to see that he's had both heroes and newbloods die before him. :(

This is a lovely podcast. Pick is just like the rest of us who have done a few gigs but he was in Dire Straits and played with flipping Bob Dylan. It's like seeing the Wizard of Oz in his pyjamas.

your industry is infectious to most of those involved in it, you and your parents are not immune to it. we are all products of our environment. perhaps it's best to remove ones self from the infectious environment. you don't seem to want to remove yourself from the environment that has affected your life. 10 minutes ago i clicked on an interview with you in it. now 10 minutes later, and you seem to be all over you tube. if you are grifting. pissoff

WHY was the film/ show so popular? Many reasons. 1. The Vietnam War was going on so a war tv show was obviously something an audience could connect with. 2. Everybody can identify with being away from home and desperately wanting to go home, missing loved ones, making new friends, getting on other people's nerves. 3. The awesome talent of Alan Alda, Larry Gelbart, Robert Altman. 4. The show cleverly balanced comedy and drama which was something of a rarity on TV (though Hogan's Heroes did it frequently even though it was known mainly as a comedy). 5. I also think that a big reason the film/show was a hit because the public was attracted to the recurring plotlines of characters rebelling against the systems. Hawkeye, Trapper, B.J., Blake, Klinger, were the quin essential hippie soldiers (as were the characters on Hogan's Heroes) who always ignored military regulations which I think really sparked the public.

Hawkeye, Houlihan, Malcahy, Igor, Klinger, Kelly, the intercom voice Flagg, Sidney-the characters that were on the show from start to finish.

It's interesting when Mike mentions that James Cromwell was considered as a permanent cast member on Mash, being that Cromwell later had a guest role as prank playing officer.

I love Ernie Hudson. He's the most sane and decent of the Ghostbusters although I don't know much about Reitman may he rest in peace. Akroyd is fun, but he has this political/supernatural streak stuck in him. Murray is notoriously kind of douche, but everyone who I know that's met Ernie has said he's great. I feel for him not getting work because it's difficult for actors. You can see his house is nice and he seems to be doing well and I love to hear that because he's done some questionable film projects lol.

What a fabulous interview! I listen to the Cowsill podcast every week and have been a fan of the band since the late 60s. Thank you for asking such insightful questions. Bob elaborated on so many things I wondered about that were not included in the documentary. (I'm sure that length was an issue.). I'm impressed by Bob's honesty about his troubled family history. I've been rooting for the Cowsills my entire life.

Facts: Taylor was a fan boy on drugs, Stewart a jealous white drummer who just imitated black drummers and was lucky that his brother was a sensational music manager. Neil on the other hand was an original and a genius on many levels.
