The Krag will always have a special place in my heart due to the fact that this was the rifle that invaded my island! Not the Norwegian 1894 but the American rifle of 1896, chambered in the rimmed 7.8x59mm rimmed or .30-40 Krag. However I’ve always liked the Norwegian one more than the Swedish, because of many factors, but one of the main factors being that it’s prettier than the American, the other factor is the cartridge; 6.5x55mm is a nice cartridge and much more common than the .30-40 Krag found in the American Krag’s from what I’ve heard

Only thing Norway builds good are pay plazas on the Road, so that you can overpay for the shitty nature bitten roads you already pay for once or twice through the tax 😩 problem with Norway is to many people with to many money in their account IT makes them blind to how corrupt dirty lying sorry excuse for Humans their politicians Are. There is absolutely no reason why using the magazine cut off would make the rifle more precise or accurate at longer ranges, its bolt action not semi-auto.
@henrikselle16275 жыл бұрын
I think it was mainly used by armies at that time for soldiers to conserve ammunition, the officers would give an order when to feed from the magazine for rapid shooting
@jasonkane81445 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats exactly what it was for. I just mentioned it because the video implied this feature allowed greater accuracy which isnt the case.
@rolfledal5 жыл бұрын
The magazine cut off was intended used under long range while the soldier had more time to reload. When the enemy came close, the soldier would use the magazine.
@victorrain4 жыл бұрын

why did the us change a perfect cartridge like the 6.5x55mm to the poo 30-40?
@johnhartley50716 жыл бұрын
Erik Abbot There was nothing wrong with .30-40 krag at the time... Rimmed cartridges were still the norm, rimless cartridges were new and unproven in combat. In fact .30-40 was a smokeless powder round from day one, while early 6.5x55 was a black powder round at first. So in the early to mid 1890's .30-40 krag rounds were more sophisticated than 6.5x55 Swedish. Wasn't till the Spanish American war actually happened that the flaws of .30-40 krag became apparent, and even at that, it's replacement .30-03 was also rimmed. Wasn't till .30-06 was adopted in 1906 that the US military got a top notch, modern, rimless rifle cartridge perfected.
