Excellent advice. Only question is why would we enter the bank if no shots are being fired? There’s no exigency circumstances. I think it’s better to wait for a specialized unit like SWaT to deal with this. U could also do a full scale debrief with all personnel. Thank u for posting.

Hello i just completed my assessment for captain and have an oral interview next for the last step. I have heard its a good idea to ask the assessors a question at the end and can't think of what to ask. Do you have any recommended questions.

I’d like to meet any officer who has the time and ability and would think of half this crap during a basic bank robbery. 90% of departments don’t have half the resources he just spouted off or even enough ppl to make half of it happen.
@ffernan309 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, Scott. Unfortunately, you are correct that most agencies are very short-handled. Some agencies do have the resources, though, and this is just an example of what an assessment center response may sound like. We always recommend tailoring the response to your agency and your resources. This sample was done for a City of Miami police trainee, and the resources are available in Miami. Thanks for watching the video and for your feedback. Chief Freddie.

This is AWESOME! I've been enhancing my classes and study with your videos. Prepping for the oral exam for NJ Captain's rank. In our test, we have to answer our subordinate question after our IC/Company officer answers. This leaves us with approximately 2 minutes to solve the issue.

@justmyopinion we train hundreds of people a year to answer just like this without seeing or knowing the scenario until their coaching session starts and more importantly on test day, hundreds of number one scores and promotions. Check out our website and all the positive reviews. We teach you how to do the job and how to perform on the assessment center. There is no magic here, It takes work, practice and a systematic approach like we teach. Invest in yourself--Best of luck to you!

He does a tremendous job here. I was trying to figure out how he was able to get everything in so smoothly and paced so evenly, where as I'm really struggling to fit in under 10 minutes. Then I realized that it's because he starts his time and is able to dive right into the problem. In our oral, the time starts as soon as you walk in the door and the assessors reread the scenario to you. Essentially shorting you of almost 2 minutes of time. I have to see where I can trim 2 minutes out, because this guy sounds so polished

Just took and passed a Lt assessment center test for promotion and passed w/o purchasing this highly priced program. The company was Ascend Leadership that gave the test. I am willing to give FREE advice to any of my brothers and sisters about to test for promotion. I find it sad that these two chiefs are charging an insane amount of money for something like this.

How can I get in contact with you I am taking a Senior Captain Assessment in two months?
@fireguy57333 жыл бұрын
@@ramoncampbell1170 I took the Lt promotional test so Capt may be different, not sure. Written test of course based on the materials they tell you to study from so no tricks there. We had the virtual fire scenario, they first gave us a folder with a map view of the structure, we were able to preview and formulate our tactical strategy prior to going into the virtual room with the proctors. We then had an HR issue scenario, in a room at a desk with all the judges, told me about an older FF female that other FF are giving her a hard time and she is sick of it and wants something done about it, how would you handle it. Then a rapid fire Q n A, they show you a series of vids or still pics and will ask you first what did you see. Answer with what you SAW. then they ask what you would do. Then answer that question. Yours could be totally different though, good luck

I am taking an assessment for LT on the 20th, this seems like doing a Clincon scenario, but after 7 mins of talking that's when you spoke about putting water on the fire, and you were a working officer no way all that stuff can get done while you are inside fighting the fire. I guess it's all points and not real time scenario
@jamesbarnes18475 жыл бұрын
I have an assessment for Captain on the 28th. It’s though to talk your way through the incident like this. All of this stuff goes on our head when we’re arriving but rarely do we ever talk it out like this. Def something to get used to. How does your promotional process work in your department?
@fireguy57335 жыл бұрын
@@jamesbarnes1847 For the Lieutenant position we had a written exam 100 multiple choice questions, those that passed move on to the assessment portion that has an interpersonal issue, a tactical scenario and then a rapid decision session.

Tough*^ Ours are based on Resumes first and foremost, then the top Candidates receive interviews which involve An Oral Interview, Answer Administrative questions and also a Tactical Scenario(table top). Stressing for sure lol

@@jamesbarnes1847 How did it go? I have a promotional process similar to @fireguy57 at my department. We don't have a test date yet, but one of the Captains is leaving. I'm thinking about purchasing the fire assessment center prep program. Did you use this program, if so what are your thoughts?
@jamesbarnes18474 жыл бұрын
Shaun S Hey Shaun, my extensive preparation eased my anxiety and it turned out pretty well. Ended up placing second out of 11 candidates that interviewed. I believe I was the youngest to interview period. This honestly helped me out. I did not purchase the program but I see where doing so could have given me that edge. I devoured my departments SOGs, Processes and anything on KZfaq about IC and the process in which tasks should be completed. I read, studied and also converted most of the study material to an audio recorder app so that I could listen to it in my car during the drive. I just started in my position a few weeks back and just like anything it’s a whole different world and weight on your shoulders riding in the front seat. Let me know if I can help in any way.

This is great drillsmanship. There is a difference between drillmanship and scene management. I'm sure the RIT would be quicker on an actual scene, but he can only speak so fast...

RIT took a while to be set up without a 2 out
@jamesbarnes18475 жыл бұрын
I think with this particular interview scenario(most likely a table top) it’s necessary to explain everything you’re doing and prove your knowledge. Just because it took him a bit to get to RIT doesn’t mean it wasn’t set up in a timely manner on scene. I believe that the interview panel is looking for your calm, cool and collectiveness approach to the incident while hitting all “objectives” as you work your way through... I could be completely wrong on that though lol

How about the tactical with a radio and a person who role plays with you?
@ChiefDavidJohns6 жыл бұрын
Our tactical video has samples of all types of tests. The example you are speaking of is a Dynamic Role Play. This is very common with many testing companies, we see this more often with smaller departments due the logistics cost and consistency with role players. You can purchase the class here. facp.litmos.com/self-signup/register/29970?type=1
@jamesbarnes18475 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard there are too many inconsistencies with the role play method. For example the answers will differ from the interview depending on what you give them. Hiring officials have found it much more “even” to do a tabletop...just from what I’ve read.
