I make sure to clean the brush often, especially at the base where the bristles come out. When you finish using the brush, clean it and form the bristles with your fingers, and store it with the bristles upward. Also, don't leave the brush sitting in a cup of water for a long time. That will mess up the shape of the bristles. When paint dries up at the base, it will cause the bristles to get messed up and stick out. Another thing you could do, is ,when you clean your brush, put a bit of dish soap on the fibers and store it that way. Your brushes should last a lot longer, and stay in good shape.
