Damn, this Chevette looks like a better car than the Cruze today! Let's face it, at the time General Motors was outselling and dominating in market share over the other American brands for a reason. Chevrolet was just plain better than Ford from the 1950s until the mid 1980s, anyway. It wasn't until Ford came out with the Taurus that the tide changed. Since then Ford has been of better quality than Chevrolet, if you ask me.

@ChevetteMan As far as I know, in Colombia they kept building the Chevette Coupé until 1998

I had a brown 1977 just like this one. It was a blast to drive because it was like driving a go-cart. I remember the gas pedal was about the size of a tootsie roll. I put some American racing rims on it that my cousin gave me off of his 75 Toyota Celica! The rims would probably be collector items now. Had a ton of fun taking the engine apart and putting it back together over an over again.

This is great! thanks for posting. Don't see many of these anymore. Not glamorous enough, like a muscle car. But they were very important for GM. And with today's gas prices, they make sense again. If only GM would bring an updated version back....
