The manual will give you dimensions to make that key for the cct. Fyi it has shoulders on it so it will not turn.

that was great!! working on a 72 TS185 ran rough, then it ran wide open. crashed into the garage! thought maybe bad crank seals. Carb was cleaned, but will check jetting. maybe mine are messed up. Great video Moto Man!

So there is a golden little piece there next to the main jet. Where does that go?
@themotofirm3 ай бұрын
Took a while to figure out what you meant, I assume at 3:32? That is the needle jet, basically a guide for the needle, and makes the hole visible from the inside when you’re lowering the needle down into place. It presses lightly into the carb body from the bowl side, before the main jet and jet holder go in. Countersunk (tapered bore) goes toward the needle. I don’t typically mess with them since they don’t do much and don’t really go bad, but maybe I replaced this one since the kit had it, not sure.

I've got a 92 750 Nighthawk. So much more simple. No air cutoff valves, no accelerator pumps. You do have a bank of 4 carbs of course. You have to go through all those passages, most miss that.

Someone in the CBR forum posted about your video. Hopefully it helps my Rebel 500 that has over 65k miles, but I did order the part prior to finding the forum today.

Excellent video, just helped me fix mine. Wouldn’t start all of a sudden, found exactly the same problem. Sorted the spring loaded motor brush and the bike fired into life.

It doesn't work, save time get a manual tensioner, set it and forget it. I replaced my OEM with a manual on my 05 600RR in 2008 it's now 2024, I never had to adjust it 37,000 miles later

I made a tool by cutting a screwdriver shank to 21/2" Then bent the last half inch 90% useing a torch lighter. That gave laverage. Do this before buying anything. And turn counter clockwise to the left. To add tension.

It’s going to be very similar as they are almost the same bike. I’d verify that the clearance specs are the same and have at it.

I do believe this is the only video on KZfaq that methodically explains setting the valve clearance on XT 350s. The part that explains how to calculate what shims are needed was particularly helpful. Especially how you organized the information in the notebook. Im currently rebuilding my engine and im currently finishing the top end and at the part where I need to check valve clearance. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the video... made changing this out a breeze! Especially how to unfasten the plugs. Just a couple of things for anyone else doing this 1) The official part #'s for gen 1 bikes (may be the same for gen 2) are as follows, 1RC-82540-00 Neutral Switch Assy., 39210-21001 O-ring, and if for some reason you need the bolts 90110-05067 Bolt, Hexagon Socket Head. 2) QUICK TIP! It makes life easier if you affix a length of wire, or pipe cleaner, or bottle brush, or whatever you have handy to the old plug as you remove it so you'll be able to fish the new one back along the same route with ease.

@themotofirm11 ай бұрын
Float level was non adjustable on mine (plastic). It should look roughly parallel with the gasket surface. If it’s not/damaged, replace it.

Where did you got the 255 pats? I been trying turn on my xt350 90' and I don't have clearance like that, the one have on is .102 my clearance is around .001 exhaust .003 on intake
@themotofirm11 ай бұрын
I assume you mean the shims? Bought my shims on eBay, do the clearance math then search for the thickness and diameter you need. Local dealerships may also have some
@MoxchHN11 ай бұрын
@@themotofirm all bikes are different? They have different clearance?

All bikes will have varying clearance due to part tolerances and individual wear.
