Not defending these engines in any way, but anyone who leaves oil changes long enough for the oil pump to look like that deserves all they get!

Peugeot Engines are horrible now sadly, pure tech is horrible/hdi too now. Renaults DCI is waay waaay better and more relliable. I woul buy a new engine Rob, and it will be ok. Great video and work as always Rob! :D

With the way manufacturers recommend oil changes at 20-30 thousand miles, isn't this why these problems are becoming more prolific....

I guess for "modern" car mechanics, if the diagnostic tools you plug in don't tell you anything they are lost. Needs someone with the time, experience and patience to sort out.

Down a bit, left a bit, right a bit. Fire! If you know, you know. Main Stealers at work = £1500. Your quality of work leaves them standing, their "technicians" couldn't diagnose a cold.

Changing oil every 10, 000 gives the same result although can last a bit longer. Citroen recommend every 25,000😅 Remember they have now changed oil type to 0-20 that could help with the sludged up engine

My suspicion on this one is it did have oil changes when Vauxhall reckoned - but they either didn't use the correct long life oil, or more likely it was used for short runs (hence the low miles) previous owner would likely be better off with a petrol or electic.

Considering the engine has only done 40k miles I would have thought regrinding the crank with new shell would be the best option.
