staying alive in a small box this size unfed.what is the point its like putting you in a jail cell for life
@BlueLobsterLSDАй бұрын
Hi Mark, we sell lobsters to our local shellfish merchants, Murray McBays, Johnshaven, Scotland however they are not always open when we come in from the sea. Shellfish do not live for long out of the water so important to keep them in premium conditions. This is a world class system keeping the lobster at optimum temperature, low nose and in the dark environment ( which they prefer), causing very little to no stress. The size of the tray does not actually matter as like to find the smallest holes, to crawl into, in their natural habitat. We are very respectful of what we catch, returning all breading females and recording all our catches to the local fisheries. The lobster pod was made by Todd Fish Tech if you would like to further research the produce. Thank you for your comment

I’m confused, the boat at the start of the video with the crab and lobsters isn’t the same boat?! Different inside , no tray and different engines?
@BlueLobsterLSDАй бұрын
Hi KingFisher, Don’t be confused, it is a different boat. The boat you are referring to is worked out of Stonehaven which was in the water before our season started. Some of our videos will be in different locations which will feature anything to do with lobster, boats and general fun stuff. Our boat does not always have the shooting tray fitted, as it can be removed along with some other kit, such as the mackerel stripper. Thank you for your comment

Greetings, I was wondering why do you have this metal tray high up off your deck? Looks like you have a rear shoot built into her? Never seen this kinda set up before
@BlueLobsterLSD2 ай бұрын
Hi King Fisher, thanks for the good question. Here at Blue Lobster Fishing we are always experimenting with innovation and trying to improve efficiency, so we came up with this unique shooting system for our boat. The boat came with the rear shoot, however, it was hard wearing on the boat when shooting fleets of 10 traps plus. The traps were wearing through the rubber floor matting and denting the exit walls. The advantages now are that the traps are elevated off the deck and the ramp runs over the top of the engines giving us more surface area to work. It is a lightweight aluminum table that has a smooth shooting surface allowing us to work more traps at once. This table also results in fewer tangled ropes as the rope runs separately out of the rear ramp, and more storage space has been created for catch, and tools under the table. It is also better ergonomically when handling the pots as the table is about the same height as the gunwale and the traps are moved manually without much back bending. It is a win-win for us This ramp system ("shoot ramp") is quite popular on in East coast of Scotland. Thanks again

Greetings,How many tons of lobsters do you shore in a season? and how many traps do you work?
@BlueLobsterLSD2 ай бұрын
Hi King Fisher, We are part-time lobstermen so it is very dependent on time and weather. We work between 40 to 120 traps from May to September. I would guess about 1.5 to 2 ton. We have 50 traps in at the moment. We also sell Aquamesh ® and build traps. Website www.bluelobsterfishing.co.uk Thanks again, happing fishing.

Thank you for the great comment it is something we have been talking about. We are very conscious that the sea life is very fragile. We wouldn't want to impact that in any way. Marking the lobsters would need be done in such away not to harm them from toxins in paint. Looking into it. We love having you out there with us, it has been truly overwhelming with the Love and support thats been given to our small channel and our small part of the world. @vossierebel sending good vibes right back at you from all at Blue Lobster LSD.

Thanks for the comment. Yes it is unfortunate, however they are under size or berried (with eggs). We will catch a lot more towards the back end of the season which is end of July, August & September. Hopefully we can get some good footage. Most of the footage we have unloaded so far was filmed on the same day.

New Zealand Health and Safety standing for Worker safety and rights wishes to ask a question: What Chance in Hell has the worker got in avoiding all those ropes if/slash/When the craft gets hit with a 50 year wave and in that case after the worker get entangled and dragged to his death over the side, Does the worker have under water breathing devices to enable him to cut himself free.??? What's a Lobster worth again?
@BlueLobsterLSD2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the great comment and the support. Blue lobster fishing takes every precaution and safety measure possible. Blue Lobster Fishing is audited by MCA and Scotland fisheries. Ewen the owner of the boat, is the worker in question. He is also a Driller on one of the most advanced semi submersible oil rigs in the world where Safety standards are of an exceptional level Your point about the ropes is a valid point but every precaution is taken to prevent being dragged over the side. 50 year waves there’s no coming back from that one. The cheeky comment about diving gear was unnecessary and very bad taste. Blue Lobster LSD will try to keep our channel upbeat,positive, and informative. This is Ewen’s coworker who was HSE for 10 years on a floating semi submersible in the Norwegian Sea. Fishing is a dangerous occupation or in Ewen’s case a hobby. We plan to continue working to a high safety standard, in which our day job has prepared and trained us well. Stay safe and be positive. 👍

Yes it is catching on and very hard wearing wire. The best on the market without a doubt. Blue lobster fishing ltd are the stockist for Aquamesh in the UK and Ireland. If you want prebuilt creels/ traps/ pots we supply them as well as all the tooling to manufacture your own. Thanks for the comment.
@BlueLobsterLSD2 ай бұрын
Hi Scot, the wire has been around a while but we are using 10.5 gauge Aquamesh wire which is a thicker gauge than normal.This should not to be mixed up with other wires on the market. We would be more than happy to show you the creel designs with extra strengthening and weight. We have had excellent feed back from both the skipper shows in Ireland and Aberdeen.
