I hope that Greyson has the chance to play with the buddy rich big band sometime as he's going to kill it!

Re soloing, have i got this right, when you mess up, you slow it down then you separate it, then reconstruct it & put it back together?

I haven’t shot any multi-cam stuff yet but I can’t imagine there will be a better tutorial to reference for when I do than this one. Great job man. Shout out to the YT algorithm for showing me this video.

The guy is like 5 years old. This is a master class? Thomas Lang, The drummer from Missing Persons, Gregg Bussonette are masters. That guy in the plaid pants is not a master. He's dreamin.

This guy is full of himself. edit: wow 20 minutes in and he's only told meandering stories about himself and noodled around aimlessly. This is what happens when you've been validated from a young age but haven't built any character or experienced any hardship. Greyson has nothing to say yet. I hope one day that changes.

He does have a weird defensive posture. He talks a lot about proving other people wrong, how other people identify him and about him breaking that mold. Even in interviews, he feels this need to qualify his answers, as if there's already an imagined oppostition to what he's saying. Probably a maturity thing and it most likely ties with this high drive to improve that he has. But this defensive attitude does put people off I think. If you don't care about what other people think, you don't spend that much time talking about it. Hopefully, he looks back at this in a few years and laughs about it. We all do that ...

@@misamoto Insightful observations! I think you're right. This comes with being young and taking yourself too seriously. Maybe he lives under the shadow of his own expectations.
@timpricedrums5 ай бұрын
You’re right. He’s not there yet. Reminds me of my awkward 25 year old self thinking I could be a worthy teacher. I was useless and inexperienced. At 45 I’m only just thinking I might make a half decent teacher now, but this young chap needs to gain another decade or so before doing this kind of self aggrandising silliness.

@@timpricedrums well put. I don't sense any humility. I recently started checking out Larnell Lewis' lesson videos, and it's the exact opposite! Larnell has something to say on the instrument, he's got wonderful technique AND he's humble. Gotta stay humble

Too much random rudiments all over the kit, no groove or melodic ideas. You can't hum along to his playing or remember it afterwards.
@josephmenditto95905 ай бұрын
Agreed. He's got amazing chops, but the dynamics aren't there. I still think he's a great drummer, but he can be so more musical.
@TheLuiscelaya5 ай бұрын
I see where you’re coming from. He has amazing chops for sure but there’s not much substance behind his playing; just a lot of flash. Impressive and skillful for sure but as others have said there’s not much original groove behind it and the lack of real musicality behind like dynamics or even just accented hits aren’t there. Fortunately he’s still pretty young and I’m sure he’ll develop that overtime still
