There are some standard values which you need based on your valve service and its capacity. Engineering team use process / technical data for manufacturing of mechanical parts. e.g. Stem dia, valve seat, plug etc.

Hi, quick question f you don't mind! In the case of a stainless indirect water heater. The tank and coil contacting the water are made of 316L stainless.. Would 150ppm chloride be an issue if the tank is constructed from 316L stainless and the tank is kept at 140*F?

There will be no issue unless you perform cleaning periodically and check the chemistry of water.

thanks for the information. I wanna use stainless steel for my pool heater. The chloride in the water will effect the metals. Any way to coat the metal to prevent corrosion?

Glad to hear that it was helpful. When chloride limit exceeds, passivation is highly recommended. In your case, SS 316 / 316L will be suitable as molybdenum alloy provides protection in high temperature with upto 2000 ppm.
