I really enjoyed Bruce Gilley's book 'The Case For Colonialism' - he writes excellently on the history of colonialism. An absolutely fascinating book. One colonial history I would really like to read about is that of the Dutch East Indies. Honestly, trying to find anything remotely academic, English language, on this subject is like trying to get blood out of a stone. It's either ridiculously expensive or not available in English - or simply doesn't exist at all.
