I'll be honest. I feel like everyone can relate to Arin's experience with this game. Whilst it can be fun and challenging. It can be also be unfair and rage-inducing, and sometimes the camera and controls can make you miss a star when you think you've lined yourself up perfectly.

How can a man who runs a gaming show be soo bad at almost every game he plays? The BOTW and TOTK, or any 3d zelda games, are a perfect example. He will do the thing wrong, bad, or in a round about way, and then blame the game for being bad rather than admit he is just not understanding.

@@pingo1387 They're been doing the show for 10+ years, and after a while I just got the impression Arin wants to keep the "bad at games" bit going for entertainment sake. He may genuinely be bad at some games, but I can def see him using that fact strategically.

In Arins defense; anyone who has played Mario 64 and has completed 120 stars. Every person I have asked about this game always tell me that they have something that they really hate about this. Basically to put it short, every single person has a love-hate relationship with this game. There's plenty of things to like about it but there's also very many things that you would hate about it. I understand Arin's view point through this playthrough.

As someone who grew up playing the reboot of this game on the DS, the controls were still absolutely donkey testicles. The real final boss of that game is the camera/controls.

I think I know the root of Arin's problem. He's a wannabe speedrunner. If you know anything about those people, this is just a more aggressive version of their mentality: Avoid as many obstacles as possible, rigorously stick to the shortest possible routes, and never do anything to deviate from the planned route. The problem comes with the fact that Arin can't pay attention to save his life, and thus constantly gets himself stuck in ways no normal person would.

not only do i find the shitty look endearing, but as danny pointed out, the way it makes the geometry of the levels easy to infer is really nice. combined with their open-ended nature and me actually very much preferring mario's movement here to every game after (barring maybe 3DL), makes this generally the most satisfying 3D mario to play imo
