Ceramic bong is a great idea because bongs get dirty fast and not too many people clean them so ceramic hides the nasty brown bong water

If you need stuff that won't warp, any particle board or plywood won't warp cause it's a bunch of little pieces of wood glued together. I know you showed the birch ply in the vid but if that stuff is every gettin too expensive just get any 5 ply board. Also a certain woodworking pal of yours might have a plan he can flatten those red oak boards with for ya 👍

Real nice kiln opening. Your cup/mugs are on point.

New elements on the bottom, also try raising your bottom shelf 1 inch so there is a gap between the kiln floor and the bottom shelf. Buy a new advancer kiln shelf for the bottom, they are thinner and less mass to heat up, it will pay for itself in not having to refire pieces. It is not the relay, you would not reach temperature any where in the kiln. One bad element would probably make it so you could not get higher than 1100C so my guess is you need two new elements at the bottom. By raising the bottom shelf you could also add a layer of ceramic fiber on the bottom of the kiln. Good luck.

Gorgeous!!! Live it ALL!! Ok so for the bottom , turn the kiln on high for a little while and watch the elements as they light up. See if the lower elements are heating up as fast as the other ones. It could be a relay or the elements. Also you can check the elements with an ohm reader to see how off the lower elements are from the top. It will tell you what you need.

How do you keep the bottoms from leaking water?🤔
@marilynhiggins2785

I solved the problem by adding an old shelf to the bottom of the kiln. I used my shortest risers to separate. Something about extra thermal load and possibly better spacing of heating elements between the shelves.

You should try putting clear glaze on the inside Before you Fire it. They don't make cleaning up easier. As resin builds up, it can start to seep into the clay and smell and taste really bad. Otherwise fuckin amazing work. Love the octovines.
