According to Mr. Doody, the line up, using his writing, was "Jeff Rutter on lead guitar. Paul Wood on lead guitar and key board, Rocky Penn on drums Tim Rutter on bass, and of course Jim Pilster and myself". I did not personally ask him, he wrote the comment when he shared the video.

I recall you guys playing at the Deep End in Park Ridge back in about 1971. It would be great to see some video of you guys from those early days.

Hello! Thank you for spotting this concert! This was truly a great performance! The band was hot (figuratively and literally given that Summer’s heat) and the harmonies were just perfect for the whole show. “Up on the Roof” is my absolute favorite for many, many reasons. As part of the Channel 41 production crew that night, I always thought that concert was one of our better productions. When the production crew disbanded about a year later, as a “thank you” and knowing how partial I was to that show, I was given the original tape that was used in the machine recording that night. I was finally able to dig it out of my crawlspace after all these years and watch it. Everything about it, the concert itself and our production of it, just wowed me again as did the memories. I had to post it for the world to see. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’m sure you don’t remember this but I was also fortunate enough to interview the band before the show. I can’t say my interviewing skills were my best in that moment but the band was able to cover for me and make it look good. So, after 35 years, I would like to finally apologize for wasting the band’s time and thank you for putting up with me! Thank you to the band for this great show and as they say, “Rock On!”.

One of the most underrated bands ever just being unhinged and hillarious whilst putting on an amazing show hahahah. What a great live group they were! I’m stunned

What does McCartney think of these tribute bands out there do they have to pay him for playing and singing those songs ?
@CavBeatJazzSpecFan Жыл бұрын
A long time ago, I had a conversation with the person who was their manager at the time. If I remember correctly, he told me that he had to pay ASCAP or BMI royalties or some sort of fee for use of the songs. The details of the conversation are sketchy at this point but I know some money had exchanged hands so they could use the songs.

in so many subtle ways, this song is such a bitch to perform. Its a REAL testament to these guys to pull this off this well live.

McCartney has seen a thousand Beatle cover bands. KC has ONE guitar player working with Harrison's sister in Branson...Who do you think you are? A Shooting star? Well how right you are...NOT.... CJ FYI Paul we have met already so no big...unless you want to actually have a conversation.... "Chief"

No one does Paul's voice better than Armando. The little vocal affectations and range are what set him apart. Effortless on the pot boilers like Hippy Hippy Shake and I Saw Her Standing There.

Couldn't agree more, Matt. If sounding like the original recordings is what you value, no other tribute band can touch these guys; and no one else covers as many songs as The Cavern Beat.

themodette In the event you didn't see my comment from several months ago, I stated this: There are whisperings that the band is looking into the possibility of Germany and UK tour. Just in the very beginning stages, no specific dates or locations mentioned. There has been continued talks but right now that's all it is. They trying to set up a time to meet with their UK promoters to see what can be done. All parties are willing, it's all a matter of timing and scheduling. They probably won't be able to meet the promoters until August to discuss a tour. If anything new happens, I'll let keep you posted if you are interested.

Thank's CavBeat. I've watched and listened to a lot of Beatle trbute bands but these guys are the best. Jim is my favorite because of the vocal range he has. Not many can get in the JOHN register. Plus he looks more like JOHN than most
@CavBeatJazzSpecFan10 жыл бұрын
You are correct that James has left the band, It's been awhile now that he has left. He has been replaced by Doug who has some pretty good "George" credentials himself as he has been the "George" in other Bealtes tribute bands. It appears to be a good match. As for Jim, he has from time to time been out of the Cavern Beat to pursue other things and has been replaced on the occasion. However, any time he's been playing with the band, he's always been "John" in the 6 years I've known the band.
