In 2017 I bought a new Martin OM-21. Nice, until a years later the binding started to peel off and the neck warped. I took for Martin service on 14st Manhattan who did a lousy repair. I traded it away.

I miss my 1970 Martin D-35 that some low-life in Vallejo CA. around 1971, pissed me off, broke my spirit! Thanks for this tour, very well done and covered! BTW, do you just make/sell guitars exclusively for old people???

WWOWW...... Mike Smalley isn't so Smalley. I would be so embarrassed to show myself if i was that heavy. Seriously Mike, you need to do something for yourself. I just can't even watch this video now. Totally ruined.

I was contemplating getting the ooo 28 but after watching this video I think the oo 28 sounds better, more balanced.

Están equivocados !! Primero calentar, después poner todos los refuerzos y doblar. El diapazón se debe calentar sin obtáculos,no debe existir "aire" entre el calor y el diapazón. Por lo demás, que manera de hablar... !!

This explains where most of the great woods go. For us one-off builders, great wood can be difficult to procure. This is a great video.

I moved to North Carolina in 2009. I really miss trips to Elderly. I grew up in Howell Mi. in the 70's & early 80's. Al Nalis in Ann Arbor and Marshall's & Elderly in Lansing were frequent trips for my bandmates and I. One of my favorite trips was when I introduced my son to Elderlys in the early 2000's when he started playing guitar. He's the best one handed guitarist I know. Of course, I may be a bit biased. I always wanted to have you guys re-fret my '75 J-Bass, but never got up the nerve. The thought of it possibly getting messed up somehow terrified me.

Seems really uncomfortable to play no? With the E and G string having no wiggle room.
@renmad0078
@renmad0078 11 күн бұрын
In fact the nibs on the frets makes the work more easy to the manufactory. With this they do not have to sanding as much as if it's without binging the ends of the frets to make them softer for the hand touch. But at reverse i does make more work for the luthiers if the customer want to preserve them if he want to refret all his guitar. Nice video thank you👍😉
@renmad0078
@renmad0078 11 күн бұрын
Yes it's clearly better to get rid of the nibs when you have to refret all the neck. Clearly it help to level well all the imperfections of the radius neck.The big work is when there is only few frets to change in a part of a binding neck. 👍😉

I played one once in the 70's. An all original 50's p bass hanging in a pawn shop. Plugged into a 60's Traynor yba-1. It sounded glorious.

Great show, great topic, loved every bit of it, but I have to ask how is it possible that everyone in the frame is very overweight? Every guitar player I have ever met in my life was lean and healthy; mostly healthy.
