It seems like 2024 was a bit of an off year for Gold Striker. I was kinda underwhelmed by it, and my friend that rode it with me said it was way worse than he remembered.

My friend rode it in 2019 and 2024 and he said it ran better this year. Although, I kinda expected it to be a little smoother after being partially re-tracked 2 years ago.

The wooden Rollercoaster is amazing at play land! Ive been on it twice and it’s definitely one of my favourite rides! Its recently been re finished and there is a seatbelt as well as a bar. If youre ever in the area, id highly recommend giving it a try! I was so happy to see a coaster that ive been on in this video!

The first time I had a vest restraint was when I went on Wonder Woman: flight of courage at Six Flags Magic Mountain, and it was a little odd but I still got some decent airtime on the ride, especially with it also being my first time riding a single rail coaster. A few other unique restraints that I experienced at Six Flags Magic Mountain was the X2 restraint and The Riddlers Revenge restraint, a pretty good restraint and an absolutely horrible restraint that made me and my entire family agree to never go on it again. X2 has their restraint as a sort of over the shoulder height adjustable thing, where you close the orange restraints over your chest and torso, and then push down until it just about touches your shoulders, and it keeps you locked in very great, leaving most of your lower body to wiggle around which can be pretty intense. Now the restraints for The Riddlers Revenge... Require you to stand. Now I haven't gone on it since October 2023, the first time I went to Six Flags ever, and I plan for it to be the last time I go on it in my life. From what I remember, it's an over the shoulder that makes you stand up completely straight, your feet are just barely flat on the ground of the cart, and the operators will ensure this for your safety. Now, I was going through "my ladies days" when I went on this, so I had a "cotton stick" in that day, and this ride made sure to really shove it up in there, and both my brother and dad did not have an enjoyable experience. So yeah those are the few unique ones I have personally experienced.
@808CoasterLife
@808CoasterLife 6 күн бұрын
I experienced all of those last year. Flight of Courage's restraints felt more comfortable than I thought, and X2's weren't bad either. I was able to get a comfortable setup on Riddler's Revenge but I know not everyone is able to get that so I definitely understand.

I spent a few hours here on my way down to the bay area from the San Juan Islands. I bought a season pass but it's likely to end up just being a Magic Mountain season pass come the fall when I'm in SoCal. I got 4 credits in those couple hours (Joker, Medusa, Superman, Cobra), and nothing else was open coaster wise. The only credit I'm missing in that case is the freespin and I don't know how much I care about that knowing I've ridden one and I'll likely have the chance to go back next summer. I mean I'm the same distance from Santa Cruz currently and quite simply, that place is run a lot better and there are more things to do for "besides the rides". When comparing this park to CGA it's sad CGA is the one on the chopping block. Discovery Kingdom might have a better top 3 (well Joker is better than anything at CGA, Medusa vs Flight Deck is close but I think I'd give Medusa the edge, Gold Striker is probably better than Flash (the oddball comparison because no contemporary at the top of the lineup) and Flash hasn't been open all year. Joker vs Railblaizer is really what decides the park with a better top 3) but Great America is just run so much better. I hope they reconsider what park to sell off and just give Great America Joker. The real looser of the merger and Prologis is bay area enthusiasts in the long run.
@808CoasterLife
@808CoasterLife 2 күн бұрын
I agree the other NorCal parks were better operations-wise. Hopefully with the part Cedar Fair management, Discovery Kingdom could be better managed but that’ll take a couple years at least.
@urbex_coasters
@urbex_coasters 2 күн бұрын
@@808CoasterLife Cedar Fair owns Knott's. Let's not forget what that place was like recently (down 3 coasters including a headliner, and on top of that an ACE landmark which is still down and won't deserve its landmark status if it ever reopens. That's arguably worse than being down a few common clones and a headliner that's only a headliner because of height restrictions). And the whole Top Thrill 2 situation, which is too close to the merger to blame Salim for.

It’s hard for me to say because I’ve only ever ridden Invertigo (an inverted boomerang) and I’ve heard it’s a different experience than a regular boomerang. But honestly I did enjoy it, and I kind of want to ride it again. I did get insanely dizzy afterwards but it’s hard for me to say how much it affected me because we went back to the hotel for a break right after I rode it, so it’s hard for me to judge how badly it affected my day. But all in all, my one experience was relatively good.
@808CoasterLife
@808CoasterLife 8 күн бұрын
Sounds like my brother had a kinda similar experience to you. I haven’t ridden an invertigo but I’d imagine the forces you feel will be very similar to the normal boomerangs.

One cool thing about my homepark Lagoon is we have a Schwarzkopf Jet Star 2. Lap sitting is required though, because the Rider closest to the front of the seat wears a seat belt, whilst the rider or two behind the front rider has their lap sat on as a restraint. So technically no restraints for most riders on a Jet Star coaster. Pretty awesome and spoiled experience to ride a rather intense ride for one where most times I've rode lately, it's been without any real restraint.

Classic Coaster at PNE (Washington State Fairgrounds) does not have buzz bars. This incredible, small coaster uses replicas of Prior & Church trains and has thin bars that move forward just a little before locking mechanically. "Buzz bars" are exclusive to PTC trains and are named for the buzzing sound the switch makes when the bars are unlockked.

dude imagine a boomerang type roller coaster where it brings you to the top of the lift hill but goes backwards into some inversions, then powered back forward by a launch to pass through the first lift hill and then into the rest of the ride
