The bit of track right at the start of your video as you walk to the platform is that the future extension route of the railway or just a storage siding. One way is to Helston and other way a place called Trethorick or something
@damasw
@damasw 8 ай бұрын
The extension is at the other end of the railway, under the bridge although I think there are long term plans to go in the opposite direction as well. I filmed the track at the start because it wasn’t there last time I visited.

The track laid from the platform to the buffet cars is a continuation to our new permanent platform and station which will be built about 50 metres beyond the buffet. A lot of digging out and construction work needs to be done before a platform can be built and of course money is a big part of this as we rely purely on ticket sales and donations to finance the projects. All workers including the management are volunteers who give what time we can when we can. Consequently projects often spread out over years rather than months, but we do what we can in our allotted time space. We have a brilliant workforce of little numbers who literally are Jack of all trades including myself who runs not only the carpentry Side but engineering maintenance as well . Any locals watching this who could give some time at the railway would be gratefully received .

Ah! I'd managed to visit there on 14th July this year. Lovely little railway, it was so peaceful and nice little cafe/lunch in the Cornish Carriages Buffet. Was speaking to the guard and drivers when we got to the far end of the line at Truthall halt as they stop for 20 minutes or so at that end. Apparently started surveying the viaduct which appears to be in good condition cosidering it's age. Started clearing the cutting beyond the bridge at Truthall Halt and were having a bad time because so much rubbish and hazardous waste had been dumped to fill it in. Really took me back to when I was a kid and visiting heritage railways like The Watercress Line & The Bluebell Railway for the first time.

Yes it is a very nice peaceful place. Hopefully they will get back to the outskirts of Helston in the not too distant future. The viaduct would be great for marketing the line as it’s quite an impressive structure.

Lovely loco and stock, running really well. It’s a bit hard to tell from the images - are you on 32/45mm track or 45/something bigger? It looks pretty complex!

Not sure. From what I can gather they have cleared about 1/2 a mile of track bed. They probably need to raise funds for the track also.
