Judging from your comment section you did not convey this text well, which is disappointing because it has such great messages to spread

3:48 yeah, but how do we know what others want? (its hard enough for us to even know what we ourselves even actually want) (sorry, i hope this wasnt sounding rude or anything. I was just sincerely confused by how one is supposed to make such a judgement)

No worries. I agree. I think that anyone's expression of a subject could potentially reach others and be what some prefer.

I am currently writing a critique of BCH so you've given me some new info to look into. I actually think BCH work borders on theological writing, especially the way he talks about "the Other." He's a very dogmatic philosopher.

Exchanging money to make more money via investment and return isn't absurd, IMHO. There nothing inherently wrong with it as far as I can tell. First of all, in a free market, one can only do so by taking a risk, the investment might flop and the capitalist could lose money, not make it. Second, they are only able to get a positive return by producing or providing a product or service that a consumer wants. This makes the consumer's life, generally speaking, better in that they get what they wanted, as well as satifies the aims of the capitalist who makes even more money than before. Thus the whole of society is theoretically enriched. They are, of course, cases where a capitalist may be conceived as being evil in the sense of forging ethics, morality, etc., in the course of making money but the same could be said about a consumer who resorts to like behavior to satisfy their basic needs; thus neither being a consumer or a capitalist - and let's not forget capitalists also consume and are, in that sense, also consumers - is inherently good or bad but it's a matter of how one conducts oneself in the aim of their pursuit, IMHO. So why isn't it inherently bad for the capitalist to want to make more money than is needed to satisfy their basic needs? Well, for one, again, a person can only do so by enriching the life of another, and two, again, that person's own life is enriched theyby. Plus many people are charitabl and give to those who are less fortunate.

Yes, I just wish profit-making wasn't at the expense of manipulating/gaslighting the public. But I like your nuanced view - it is the "how" and not only or always the "what."

I read Aion and there’s some incredible insights in that book but I must confess most of what I remember him talking about was fish and Jesus for some reason.

Ha. There are quite a lot of chapters about fish in here. I'm curious to find out why.

I think that this can be worth my time. the difficulty is that the production quality leaves much to be desired. If you know what you clearly know (because the subject matter is spot on) you can make this better. I have faith in you.

6:58 Han also seems to have quite a deep (albeit philosophical) understanding of narcissism so I'd say it's alright that you draw from the technical subjects; after all narcissism is ultimately one thing, no? I'm so glad to have discovered this channel because you seem to talk about a lot of thinkers I currently have a huge fascination with: Han, Ayn Rand, Jung, etc.

A good portion of any of Byung-Chul Han's books, or 20ish pages of Being and Time. Even without distractions it takes me around 45minutes for that many pages. I like that you still post these after, because its a good way for someone lazy i.e. me to force myself to read consecutively.
@philosophy_schillingАй бұрын
@@Phaedrus88 That's amazing! For sure, for myself too, it depends on what I am reading, I would say for something like BT, it would take me an hour to read 20 pages. I tried to read Schelling once and I think I got through 10 pages in an hour! Let me know if you have any suggestions for study videos.
