Is the h1 or h2 steel better?
@LrdwEDC9 күн бұрын
According to knifesteelnerds, the steel change to H2 was not necessarily an improvement on H1. It appears to be more due to steel availability, and the need to use a different steel manufacturer that resulted in a slight composition change, and therefore a new name. knifesteelnerds.com/2022/06/06/h2-steel-h1-the-sequel/

Those washers have to break in, unlike bearings. Once they do break in, your action should be smooth as glass.

Thanks for giving it a go! Im glad it helped improve the action a little. I believe you're right on the money about the narrow range of perfect tightness coming from friction of the washers and the spring tension of the Omega springs. Here's hoping that there is an omega spring out there that will give the bar lock more 'oomph' when sucking the blade back in. Cheers!

I would say similar, at .126 blade thickness on the arcade and .125 on the 20.5 this is very little difference in overall sliceness. I would pose both are maybe designed for a bit harder use, like amazon boxes 😆

Thanks for sharing! The blue on red is worse than meh, it's blech! Mixed saturated primary colors are too aggressive. White or pastel scales would play nicer with such a vivid accent color. For something more playful, contrast colors like blue, green & yellow. (Research design style "Memphis")

Thank you so much for taking the time to create this great video! And how cool that your wife is there with you too! Sometimes, from some of other's videos, I get the impression that they're hiding down in the basement, hoping their wife doesn't find out what's going on 😅. I really dig your red and blue combination! I'm 52, just within the past couple of months have developed an interest in SAKs. They're definitely more affordable than motorcycle modifications (which was my previous hobby), and "almost" as much fun 😅. Just picked up my 3rd last Wednesday, a Rambler. My first two were the Huntsman and Fieldmaster, definitely great tools, but I quickly realized that they're just a tad bulky to be carrying in my pocket all day. I attatch whichever one to a Keysmart pocket clip so that they hang inside my front pocket. So far, I've switched the scales on both bigger knives: one now has green aluminum,, and the other has Tero Tuf, which I like the looks and feel of better. Have been toying with the idea of titanium scales for the Rambler, it's just difficult to justify the cost 😬😅. Thanks again! Looking forward to more content! Best wishes!

My only EDC now (aside from phone/wallet/keys) is The Manager (Rambler + Pen). The Phillips/bottle opener is the BEST combo tool Victorinox has made. Why? Because it's a SMALL, inline Phillips. It's the perfect size for the small screws you find in electronics (which I deal with FAR more than "regular screws). And the bottle opener portion eliminates the other openers because honestly... I can't remember the last time I needed a can opener in a pinch. 🤷 Plus, the nail file (which I use often) had a small slotted driver for those rare chances. I don't want a light. I have a phone. And once I learned about a trick to opening a wine bottle with a house key (yes this comes up, don't judge me), having a cork screw became less necessary. The only things I want on the manager (and I'm working on it) are a toothpick and a SIM tool. I'll probably just have to modify the scales a little.
@LrdwEDC4 ай бұрын
That is awesome, i do really want a manager at some point, need to find one in blue! I do questions how long the pen lasts? Thanks for watching and commenting!
@RJay2074 ай бұрын
@@LrdwEDC As far as I understand, they're not making Managers now. I can't find them on the site or on Amazon. HOWEVER, they still make the Rambler (Manager without the pen, but you could add blue Plus Scales to get what you want), and I can still find the MIDNIGHT Manager, which is a Manager with a "flashlight" LED in it (however, I don't know how easy it would be to get after market scales made for the LED).

Hi friend thank you for the disassembly demonstration, I wonder if the detent and rattle could be gotten rid of by swapping out the bearings with washers as an alternative to a different pair of omega springs? I have noticed that most of my bearing-crossbar lock knives are easier to swing open than my washer-crossbar lock knives so perhaps the washers may prevent the blade from moving around as much. Just a thought. Cheers.
