Hi Kimberly. Maybe you are like me and have a heap of cake decorating stencils, but haven't been making cakes since the pandemic started. I have both mesh and plastic stencils and I'm wondering the same thing as you. I think from the description above where she says "mesh stencils are for crafting, scrapbooking, cake decorating and all other creative techniques", the answer to your question is probably "yes". I'm going to try my smallest mesh stencil (first) as I can't see any reason why the plastic ones won't work. But .... firstly, it would be uncool to use these stencils for cake decorating after using them for crafting and secondly, from my research you need to be careful about the kind of medium you use. It needs to have some body, as the Blanc Canvas says on their website: "You can use any paint that has a BODY (not ink - it’s too thin). Examples are Chalk Paint, Acrylic Paint, PVA, Fabric Paint and Puff Paint." Thirdly, it will be important to wash out your stencil straight away, otherwise the paint will ruin it. Did you try it yet? I would love to know how you got on. I will come back and let you know my results too. Cheers from Australia.

Yes, they're now made from *nylon* (when traditionally the mesh would have been fine silk - ergo Silk Screen Printing.)
