My dog flinches when I throw anything toward her, including food. The lighter/slower falling treat idea isn't something that I had thought of. We are taking a break after 5 minutes of trying popcorn, she still closes her eyes when she sees it falling toward her. Our female cat (daughter of a barn cat) gets them as soon as all the human children leave for school (coincidentally when she wakes up with her night “nap”)She has a high level of hunting instinct (she only likes cat treats when we throw them or put them somewhere that requires effort to extract).
