I can confirm, Grantham's transport links heavily need improving. I can't drive I'm just interested in tis sort of stuff, however having lived nearby sort of for 7 years growing up from yer 8 to uni, my god was it difficult to get anywhere in one of the biggest counties going. So it should be getting better, and I hope it does. Also this A52 extension will be so handy because we use the B6403 I think it is so often just to get to the A1 going south, Very fun road to drive swerving all the potholes but not great as a main route, and heading through Grantham just makes it even worse so yeah

How the hell does a car park cost £51m? If I spent £51m on a plot of land that size there'd be a mansion with 3 swimming pools and my own race track in the garden.

I'm from Gravesend originally (escaped in the mid 90's!😅) and you're a lucky visitor. Your car still had wheels, in fact still had your car, for you to do the rest of your road trip. Gravesend does indeed have the oldest cast iron pier in the world. The ferry was at one time run by the railways and for a time the pier was a railway station that ever had track or saw a train! Princess Pocahontas is buried in St George's church but no one knows where for certs in as the records of where we're burnt to crisp along with the former church when the Dutch attacked the town during the battle of Medway in 1667. (also known as the raid on the Medway) This was when they also landed marines at Sheerness and captured the town! Not a good time for England, the Royal Navy or King Charles. Not the current one obviously. Sheerness incidentally has the oldest cast iron clock tower in the world.

That’s awesome Jon, a bit of local-to-me stuff 😁 I’ve tramped the A41 on and off for donkeys years and always felt like it was hiding something. It’s a great stretch of road anyways, between the M25 and Aylesbury it’s enjoyable in a between A-road and Motorway way… And now we know why!

I live in the Medway Townsin Kent and I am very disappointed in you listing Dover, Gravesend and Folkestone as shitholes. I appreciate that time is important in creating a video, but parts of the Medway Towns should definitely have been included in your list of shitholes as it easily ranks amongst some of the shittiest shitholes in all of Kent. Very disappointed.

Why didn't they do this during the school holiday's because lets be honest that most of the traffic in London Village is women who can't see there children walk more 10 feet so they have to use there Range Rovers to collect their kids from school ,but it just shows the huge waste off money the government wastes on high way's and planning

How about a series on downgraded motorway routes, ie those built to a lower standard such as the A50 or what was proposed as the Black Country Motorway but was built as an A road

I haven’t been to Shitholes, is it on the coast? 🤔 It should probably be twinned with Tilbury Town, and having been subjected to living there a few years, I speak with authority. You may be interested to know that the ferry has either ceased or in the process of ceasing (clumsy way of putting it but hey). The other pier was an interesting place to poke around, as I discovered when my dad took the aforementioned ferry over for that very purpose. Much of the structure was remarkably intact and there was a wall that was part covered in tiles which we concluded must have been a tunnel under the trackbed before it was demolished 🙂 One uninteresting fact is that I can see the car ferries at Sheerness from my bay window on the other side of the water. From the window at the rear of my flat I can see Canvey Reach. I guess I’m just lucky like that 🙄 Thanks again John, have a great week celebrating the fact ‘we won’ 🥇 🤣😂😅👍🍻

Typical local government incompetence. They have no idea how anything works so just muddle through doing random crap like a park and ride not connected to any roads. Anyone with any sense would have built the park and ride as part of the housing project because it could have benefited from economies of scale doing everything at the same time while all the machinery and building infrastructure is already on site. In the mean time all the roads they are supposed to be looking after are falling apart and by the time the park and ride is operational it will have fallen into disrepair.

That part was built as an A road, without motorway regulations the slip roads can be shorter, whether they should be is open for debate :D

Sheerness is, shall we say, a shadow of its former glory! I used to have to visit the docks regularly for work. I can say that there are some Georgian architectural gems on the dock site but behind security. There was a wonderful food trailer just over the bridge onto the island. Awesome bacon and egg in a salt and pepper tiger baguette! Just what you need having suffered the Dartford crossing.
