1. This male announcer clearly does not watch basketball. 2. It was 100% a foul. The Storm player left arm runs into Caitlin Clark shooting hand. 3. Caitlin gets like 10% of this calls. It's bad. Which is why she tries to sale the call.

I'm new to basketball - when a player goes out of bounds, can someone please explain why no one attempts to catch them? We're talking about women here, their bodies are soft and fragile - save them, right?

It's 2024. We know, with scientific evidence that women are not porcelain dolls. They are as sturdy as their male counterparts.

it's different in basketball. People are seated most of the time so it happens too quick. Thats my take anyway

a) that male announcer was very unprofessional in his comments. b) I slowed this down to 1/4 speed and saw the defender hit CC's right hand just after the ball was released and then appeared to momentarily touch CC's left forearm. The forearm contact almost appeared more like she wanted to prevent CC from falling. c) I'd need another angle to see if their feet tangled in any way. Re-reading the rules, the one that could apply would be "illegal contact," but all I saw was incidental contact. So, as the announcer said and we see in all professional sports, flop when you can if it might help you win the game. LOL It is what it is, which often isn't good.
@BlackBoomhauer3 күн бұрын
she def did the right thing for sure.as a professional athlete trying to win the game. Compared to other fouls it was a bit light to where I can understand the announcer's pov and clearly he was a Seattle fan but I like your take on this.

It isnt as simple as only blaming Sides... she isnt THE problem. But she is A problem. For instance, she obviously isnt coaching them up on how to set a decent screen (& how valuable a good screen is, bc a GOOD screen guarantees at least 1 person is open)... and CC WILL make the right play if a good screen is made, either a made shot or an assist. Aliyah B is the main culprit on the bad screen front. Also, they keep playing drop coverage on defense. If you play drop coverage on pick & rolls, there is no excuse for allowing the roller easy layups, but they do. Also no excuse for allowing easy midrange shots, but they do. So, with their version of drop coverage, Indy is allowing easy shots on ALL 3 LEVELS. This is BOTH coaching and execution. CC SHOULD be held accountable/benched for when she plays bad D. Just like Boston should be benched for repeatedly setting garbage screens that do nothing but bring her defender to double CC... AB is just using her "screens" to force CC to pass her the ball 20 feet out. If she just set good picks, she would either a) give CC an open three or b) CC finds AB rolling for a layup. Also, Sides has CC & AB running pick & roll going mostly to the RIGHT, when CC is a better shooter going to her LEFT. Sides only had 4 years of film of her time at Iowa to find this out. I think Sides may be a victim of players simply not listening to her, it's hard to say. Bottom line is they ALL are doing wrong things. I dont know which it is, but it's happening. They ALWAYS get lost on transition defense, they always lose good shooters, they dont sprint back (did you see how many easy layups and threes Vegas got in transition bc they all got lost in transition?). They PROBABLY need more conditioning, too. That said, i do NOT think that early nasty schedule gave them a CHANCE for conditioning work - too many games in too little time. Every coach on YT is saying it's bad coaching, but i actually think the players dont listen much, or they ignore her. Kelsey Mitchell is a black hole... a GUARD who never seems to pass. Less than 2 assists per game while taking nearly 14 shots a game is PATHWTIC. She and AB are missing CC when she is open, bc they SEEM to be freezing her out. A strong authority figure at coach would end that immediately... so i'll just say that i suspect Sides just needs seasoning. The respect will come with time, but she CAN shorten that time if she just makes a few big moves, like benching ANYONE who does not do exactly what she instructs them to do. It will only take a game or 2 before the players buy in (if they want to get their numbers).
@BlackBoomhauer5 күн бұрын
I feel that but that is true with many coaches in the WNBA I cant give my girl CC a pass on that one. She a great player so I'm giving her the respect of not handicapping her with excuses. We don't do that to other great players
