The OLD hwy 14 comming from L.A. to Mojave is Sierra Highway. and it has alot of interesting sights alnog the way such a lion and large cat rescue and a French resturant and garden made of field stone. . Also a good part of the movie Cannonball Run was filmed along Sierra Hwy.

@@socalchuck Add Vasquez Rocks to the list. It is a LA County park and is where The Flintstones movie was filmed and where James T. Kirk fought the Gorn in the original Star Trek. Enjoy the trip..

Been on this ship in 1995, it was good but very basic, on 14 days, visited most of the islands and became an expensive cruise.

When my family lived in Bishop California and my dad was acting postmaster and manager of the Coca-Cola bottling company in 1948-1955 or so, we lived at 186 West Hanby St. in a small house which used to one of the Japanese barracks from Manzanar Japanese internment camp. When my dad worked for Governor Brown 1, my dad wrote the bill that made Bodie a National Historic Site and a State Historic Park

My dad used to fly us to Giant Rock when we were kids. The Cafe is gone along with the room underneath, but we started camping there. I live in Virginia now, and haven't been there in a long time. I get so jealous everytime I see you there!

Hi, the slab is still there from the cafe/pie shop and as of late visitors are slowly digging out the space under the rock. Did you fly in for the alien conventions?
@markmccreary-xo5kh
@markmccreary-xo5kh 3 ай бұрын
Hey Chuck! No, I suppose we started going there around 1970 so we missed those conventions. We did encounter hippy parties though. We even got my boy scout troop there once. My dad and I drove our rvs from virginia there in 2005 or so on our way to San Diego. One thing I liked doing was exploring the old mines and putting around on my dirt bike. I enjoy all your trips, thank you for keeping my memories alive 😊 Mark

Manzanar is a must stop and reflect. Be sure to go into the administration building to get a real grasp of what the camp really was. Bodie is really cool. The tin was from one gallon oil cans cut and flattened.

A new Chuck video, Yay!! will watch it tonight and update my comment :) Update: loved this! you did many of the stops that I did on a cross country road trip back in 2021, too bad I did not have my channel yet. Actually that road trip inspired me to create my channel. Will need to repeat it someday and this time, make videos. I need to say a ton more of NM, did not get to see any of the places you showed here
