Against Time is the first truly excellent episode of New Q. The Eps with Hannah (palindromic names in a time travel show are tight) have been a huge step up form what has come before. I love the chemistry between Ben and Hannah, But this ep???? I genuinely freaking loved this. As the World Burns was good, I really enjoyed it but, my needs as a fan were serviced wonderfully by Against Time, it was so consistent with who Ben is. I loved the Leap Home Suite part (I wasn't crying, you were crying), and I got serious people bumps when they pulled out the old hand link (would it have killed the sound guys to use the door sound effect, even if they didn't show the imaging camber door?). I have to say that if the show gets pulled now, I will be upset. Until recently I would have been "oh well". I now need more.

It’s ironic that the new _Quantum Leap_ series, which purposefully fixed some of the mistakes from the original series, ended on such an unsatisfactory note, just like its predecessor did. The final three episodes of QL Season 2 were so good, that I thought that there would definitely be a Season 3.

Dennis is way off base on missing a conversation with Janis. She's not going to say anything! It'd be a total waste of airtime.

I felt like they got the sneaker culture history wrong. They acted like shoes/sneakers were not a big deal in 1992, and "in 10 years it will explode". This would be more accurate if they were in 1982 and talking about 1992, but was totally wrong for them to be in 1992 and be speaking of 2002 as when sneaker culture explodes. Do they not know about the Air Jordan 1 in 1984? Sneakers exploded in the mid-late 80s, but was already getting there in the late 70s/early 80s with Addidas, Nike, Reebok.

It's been a rollercoaster of emotions, for sure. I think I was too quick to "accept" it and try to be grateful for what we got - which I do and I am. But lately I've just been so sad about it. Thanks for watching, and remember, there's nothing stopping us for continuing the conversations and the love we have for the show - even if we won't be getting new episodes at this time.

Thanks for sharing the video and your sentiments about the show. I'm sad that it's over too. I really thought we would get more stories with these characters, and I feel like it's a profound loss for so many fans and future fans, and everyone who just needs to see themselves on screen. There aren't any other shows like Quantum Leap on TV and we could really use more of them. I suppose we're lucky we got this revival at all, and at least it had a satisfying conclusion if that's where it has to end--for now.

I completely agree. Time is a thief… and so is NBC 😂 I’m grateful for what we got, tho. And this video is a good reminder that the conversation never stops. It’s not goodbye, it really is “see you later”. We’re still talking about the classic series, no reason to think we won’t be talking about the revival for years to come, too.

We’re planning on recording something soon as well, hopefully within the next few days. I just wasn’t in a good place to gather my thoughts, but I have a pretty good idea of what I want to say, which I think my wife and the others will mostly mirror. Social media and expectations definitely played a part in the cancellation, and it does seem like many of the concerns I’ve had were warranted, especially as a long-time fan who has been trying to keep the flame alive for 30 years. I think the biggest difference with an IP like Quantum Leap is that it hasn’t really been in the collective consciousness on a continuous basis over the past three decades (as opposed to Star Trek and Doctor Who), and they really needed to ease people back into the tried-and-true formula of what made the original work so well before trying to rush all the ambitious story-telling. As much as I liked the new series, I wasn’t in love with it because there were just a few small things here and there that I wish the network and the showrunners had paid more attention to. I said it right from the start, the new series shouldn’t have been airing on NBC because of network limitations, time constraints, and not as much creative freedom as the producers/writers would have liked. Plus, the “nostalgia factor” just wasn’t there. The two biggest things, in my opinion, that the new QL needed to survive in this era. Even something as simple as giving Ziggy a voice (which couldn’t be anyone other than Deborah) would have been enough of an olive branch to older fans such as myself to say, “Hey, we have a consistent thread to connect this to the original.” Some acknowledgment of what came before outside of the occasional reference to Sam Beckett which they then did absolutely nothing with. We had Janis and Magic, but they literally could have been anyone else. They never “felt” like legacy characters because they very rarely mentioned the past. Even Beth was just kind of there to be there, unfortunately. These are little things they could have thrown in somewhere that would have made all the difference. Instead, it just seemed like they strayed further and further away from the charm of the original series. And literally only 3 of the 13 episodes this season (4 if you count the final episode) ended with a leap-in to the next episode. It just felt too much like the type of procedural series dominating the TV landscape and which QL was supposed to be a change from. See, this is “constructive” criticism as opposed to the vile and toxic “This show sucked” attitude, or invalidation of the new series by calling the original “the real QL,” that the very vocal trolls are posting on the Facebook forums. Anyway, great discussion, Sam and JJ! I sincerely hope that Universal doesn’t give up on this IP, even if they try again with something new in the next few years. The world needs more messages of hope and positivity. ~Damon

I think the "it's a business" statement has changed to focus almost exclusively on immediate/short term shareholder value. This is why so much of cable has gone to "reality" TV - super cheap production costs and lots of mindless eyeballs on them. This is why a long term investment in fiction TV is no longer desirable - unless a show makes a positive impact on the stock price, it's in danger. Its disgusting.

This episode serves as a reflective dialogue on the cancellation, the emotional journey of the hosts, the impact on the fandom, and a broader critique of current television production and consumption practices.

I have a question for you. I saw someone on Reddit throw out the idea that QL could possibly be moved to Peacock-only, since the Peacock numbers seem to be better than the NBC numbers. I don’t know much about what goes into making that decision, but you seem pretty knowledgeable about this stuff. Do you think moving to Peacock-only is a possibility for season 3? Ooh, I’m excited for the Star Wars stuff! I was one of the “more than two people” to suggest it. And that’s so cool that JJ has his artwork on Star Wars puzzles! I love doing puzzles and have actually done a few Star Wars ones, so that’s exactly my kind of thing!

This in my opinion is one of THE best season finale's of ANT show I've ever seen, period.....I'll tell you one thing, at the end of episode 12 when Jeffrey was reading the letter I KNEW he was going to end up being Gideon. I can't tell you how proud of myself I was when I turned out to be right lol From the looks of it Addison is going to be the leaper and main character in season 3 and Ben will be taking a back seat.....IF it's renewed......fingers crossed 🤞🤞 Not sure how fans would take changing our main character and leaper after 2 seasons but I am on board. I hope we get an answer on season 3 soon
