I love the French music though I was brought up English I have a lot of French ancestry on my mothers mothers side . They. We’re. Hugonouts.
@kamikazes034 күн бұрын
It's French: Huguenots. I think that, even in North America, Huguenots tended to stay away from other francophones who, mostly, were Catholics. That is just the way it was early on: New France was catholic and the American were (mostly) protestant. When the British conquered Canada, French Canadian (and Acadians) rallied around the Catholic church, which had become their only advocate with the British. The Huguenots, with time, just blended in mainstream society.

The British are literally the ones who killed most of it. The British exiled our ancestors (the acadians and those that would come to be called Cajuns) from Canada, and a shit ton of them died from the trip; I think I’ve seen like 50% cited before.
