These fish have not been available in my area until recently. However, I'm now keeping a shoal of ten of these beautiful fish. One thing I notice about them when I first introduced them to my heavily planted community aquarium is that they seemed to take considerably longer than most fish I've kept to settle in. I didn't see them for several days and began to think maybe I'd lost them. However, when they did reappear they quickly became a lively group.

I use dr basseler fish food varities for all my fish. With decapsulated baby brine shrimp. Specialy when i feed breeders i use mosquito larvae or live brine shrimps.

This reminds me my childhood as I used to keep betta fish and breed them. I feel they tend to get sick if we regularly feed pellet types of food. They need either frozen blood worms or live food. Love to keep them. By the way is it true, that varient (colors, pattern... etc) of the betta fish fries depends on the female?

I have a small tank set up for the eggs, but what do you do once a few of them hatched but some of them haven’t? Do you transfer the fry to a different holding tank and wait for other eggs to hatch separately?
@SerendibAquatics
@SerendibAquatics 21 күн бұрын
No.no. keep them in same tank until 3 or 4 days. Feed them very small am9unt of egg yolk solution. After day 5 you can transfer if you want. I put eggs 3 days into same tank. Next 3 days to a another tank. It is easy.

@afifahzulkefli2647 20 күн бұрын
@@SerendibAquatics i see. do you do small water change to this fry tank until day 5 when you move them? i guess i worry the feeding would contaminate the egg that hasn’t hatched.
@SerendibAquatics
@SerendibAquatics 20 күн бұрын
It is according to the fry count and amount of egg yolk you put to the tank. Purpose of water change in fry tank is maintain the water quality. Most of the time when we use egg yolk solution , remain foods produce ammonia and waste products. When we do daily small water changes it is better to maintain water chemistry of the tank. I also feed them but contamination may be their. Tanin contain water give some protection and low dose of food may be effective against contamination.

Before running your text through an AI voice, be sure to have native English speaker correct the grammar and mispellings. The errors are very distracting. Beautiful fish. Here I've only seen males. More often than not, females are not sent along. It makes breeding these fish impossible.
@SerendibAquatics
@SerendibAquatics 21 күн бұрын
Ok. Thank you. Most of the times breeders may not send the females. But if you have one female fish, it is enough for the breeding. Try to find one or two females. They are very beautiful.

These are hardy fish you dont need an aerator for these fish
@SerendibAquatics
@SerendibAquatics 24 күн бұрын
Yes correct. But i kept some more fish with them. To confirm the stability of tank I aerate all my tanks. 1) it will help to give proper oxygen into the water. 2) toxic gas ( ammonia and clorine ) will go out with it. 3) water movements give the active aquarium feeling. You are correct without aeration we can keep medaka rice fish

Due to dense plant growth in that tank i thought shrimps will survive but following 1.5 months now there are no any cherry shrimps in that tank. Aian rummynose have unique sets of behaviors. Good luck for your breesing project ! If you have any question feel free to put comment below. Thank you again.

I find the cooler temperatures somewhat better for keeping and breeding. In the UK we'd keep them outside in small ponds or rain barrels without a heater and they survived ice and snowy conditions well. Temperature: 64.5-71.5 °F (they tolerate a very wide range, but this is considered ideal)

If we put very small number of fry into very large tank with much more plants without any other fish they will survive. If we separate 3 fry and try to feed them most of the time it will fail. If you have less number of fry. Below 10 please keep them in a large tank with much more plants they will grow slowly. Next time try it.

Hello! Been trying to refine my breeding method of CPDs for quite sometime. I stumbled upon your video because I do believe that collecting the eggs is simple keeping the eggs alive until they hatch is proving to be a bit difficult. I saw you said 18 - 19 degrees C but I keep my parent CPD at 24.5 degrees C and my fry at a similar tempature. I would need a freezer to get as low as 19 degrees C. Was this a typo? I could also be very mistake but I collect on average 200 eggs every 3 days with hatch rates around 160-175.
@SerendibAquatics
@SerendibAquatics Ай бұрын
Yes. They will breed in that temperature also. But when temperature is drop towards 18 celsius i saw marked increase of hatching rate. Now i keep my CPD in 29 celsius and when we compare to low temperature breeding capacity is drop when the temperature increase. In 24 celcius means average temperature. They will breed well. Thank you for sharering your knowledge.

I have Strawberry Rasboras (Bororas Naevus). Mine are kept with Cherry Shrimp and a pair of wild Betta Persephone. My pH and KH are very low, planted tank. GH is high but can't reduce it. Lots of leaves and Botanicals for Bettas. My Rasboras have been spawning on my Java Moss several times now. I never get any fry though. I would like to raise some up. My male Rasboras will turn deep burgundy and will glow an iridescent blue/green when they engage in display competitions to attract the females. The smallest males (usually also most vivid colored) are usually the lucky guys. I really want to try to raise some fry because these and Chili Rasbora are mad popular in my area and they are almost always sold out within a few days of a new batch at LFS.
@SerendibAquatics
@SerendibAquatics Ай бұрын
I tink best option is make a separate tank and season it. Then put much more java moss. Keep your females in that tank for 7 days and feed them good live diet. Then after 1 week put your male. After 2 days remove all adults from tank and keep the tank for 10 days. After 3 days daily observe for small fry. When you see some fry. Start to feed day 1 fry with serendib aquatic prime egg yolk solution up to day 5 of free swim. Good luck !

I must have all males as my cenepa are very brightly colored. I’ve found them to be very hardy, adapting to a much wider range of water parameters than their native waters would suggest. I keep mine in relatively soft water (tds 150-170) gh 5-6, kh 2-3 temp 25 C ph 6.8-7.2). I know of people who have success with much harder water, though. They are super beautiful. Until this video, I’d not heard any definitive info about sexing them. If the females are indeed as you describe them, my source only had males for sale. Are you certain that your females are not one of the other closely related species? I suppose if you are successful in raising the fry, you’d be able to tell if they are cross-species offspring by their appearance. Please give us an update.

Most of the time all sellers sell males only they come from S america most of the times only 10 % females . Most sellers sell pale colour fish as females.I laso bought several times pale colour fish. But when we put them into well stablished aquarium, they got the true colours. Then i went to the shop and took all females as per my knowledge. In that shop there are 50 fish. Only 2 females were there. All behaviours are same like cenepa male fish. Body shape. Fin shapes all are similer to Male cenepa. Female cenepa have zero red colour. In contrast to Amaya pencil fish. I already had amaya pencil also. Their female also the same as cenepa female but only differ is they have shade of red colour in dorsal and anal fin. I checked thailand and singapore wild cought wholesale shops, all have same females but very few. I Will update about fry. Please try to select female fish as my description your own.

@@SerendibAquatics Thank you. I’ll be on the lookout for females, but I suspect that they’re hard to find because collectors probably think that only the colorful fish are worth harvesting from the wild because they’re more likely to sell. I’ve had a similar issue with Dario dario (scarlet badis). It’s so difficult to find females. Whenever I think I’ve found one with very little color, I purchase it only to have it become red with a little bit of time.

When we compare cherry ( neocaridina ) and Cenepa red pencil. Cenepa had less therapeautic range of parameters. Also we have less knowledge. But neocaridina shrimp have much more therapeutic range parameters. Then they can bare much more different environment. Neocaridina mostly depend on water temperature and TDS vakue. 22 to 30 celcius. 50 to 130 TDs neocaridina survive and also breed. Ph also 6.5 to 8.2 neocaridina breed. Then ww can understand with this range i maintain cenepa red tank. Then both can live todether. But the problem is cenepa breeding. Cenepa will not breed without natural environmant. Water colour also should change to bit tanin brown colour. And flow also very low. Such things we can see here.
