Theo's coat colour is defined as "chocolate" - it's one of the less common colours and sort of looks half way between "sorrel" and "usual" (so darker/browner than "sorrel" but lighter than "usual" - sorrel is known as red/cinnamon outside the UK, and "usual" is often known as "ruddy" outside the UK). Abyssinians are awesome cats :)
@FurLinedUK3 жыл бұрын
If you're not aware of this - since Abyssinian fur colouring is not solid (their coats are ticked) the colour name for an Abyssinian coat refers to the main ticking colour on the hairs (so a chocolate abyssinian like Theo has chocolate ticking on his hairs, but other than areas where the colouring is more solid like his tail tip his coat colour looks more dilute than the colour name because of the lighter bands also present on the individual hairs)

Gorgeous. How did you introduce them to eachother? My husband wants an Abbyssian and id love an Egyptian Mau... we'd love to get them at 12 weeks and introduce them x
@FurLinedUK3 жыл бұрын
Conventional wisdom is for really slow introductions for cats, but I think kittens are more adaptable. We didn't have space anyway to keep them in separate rooms (not least as we already had 13 year old female cat). I chatted to Loki's breeder about speed of introduction and as they were kittens she thought a relatively quick intro would be fine. We got them on consecutive days - Theo was first. We did keep him in the kitchen (keeping my existing female cat out of there) initially (including overnight), and then when I brought Loki back the next day I brought the carrier in to the kitchen and set it down so they could sniff and I could see how they reacted. Because Theo hadn't been there long at that point he wouldn't have started to consider the kitchen his territory. As there was mostly curiosity I then let Loki out. From what I recall there was a little bit of posturing to start with, but nothing serious and they very quickly started to play. I think it helped that neither kitten seemed scared by the new environment - cautious for a few minutes, but both eager to come out of their carriers and neither hid. I think I let them both into the rest of the house a few hours later - I had thought about keeping them separated from the female cat for longer, but I think she was a bit stressed by hearing them but not being able to investigate. Also I figured as they were kittens she'd perceive them as less of a threat, and they wouldn't try dominate her either. So it seemed a less risky situation than trying to introduce an adult. She'd warn them if they got too close to her, but otherwise it was fine.

@@FurLinedUK how are they now?
@FurLinedUK3 жыл бұрын
@@THEE.apples They still get on pretty well - grooming one another and curling up together for a while every day. They do tussle a bit at times and it sometimes looks/sounds a little more serious, but there are never any injuries (beyond the occasional tiny claw mark) so I know it's not real fighting
