When I was 10 years old and in the 4th grade, I lied to my elementary school guidance counselor by telling her that Daddy was physically abusing me. When I was 26 years old, I felt extremely guilty about lying to her, so I decided to write her a letter. I told her that Daddy never hurt me and that all he ever did was love me. When my elementary school guidance counselor got the letter, she called the police department. The police department then called my house. A handsome young policeman came to my house. When he asked me about the letter, I told him that I felt extremely guilty about lying to my elementary school guidance counselor when I was 10 years old and needed to tell her the entire truth. I was sitting next to Daddy the entire time while holding his hand. The handsome young policeman told me that my elementary school guidance counselor already knew that I was lying to her and that I had already been forgiven a very long time ago. He then asked me how I found her address. I told him that I used US Phone Book.

I am so glad that I found this video because I feel as if my administrators do not want me to take the time to adjust and become familiar. The other counselor was an 8 year veteran who went above and beyond. I am practically a new counselor, so it is very overwhelming! I was also administratively placed at this school which I would have never done. I am wanting to quit but I know that is not the best thing to do; however I am not enthusiastic about this and feel like I will have a rough year.

Hey, I talked to the previous counselor from my school that I replaced this year. She allowed me to see her meet the counselor introduction that she shared with staff, it was almost 30 slides! I was virtual and we had a very small staff. I introduced myself to the staff verbally and to the students virtually using slides that I purchased and edited from TPT. My introduction to the students was very kid friendly for of course. I was feeling a lot of pressure because hers was VERY detailed and more adult focused. She was the counselor there for 8 years. She did the opposite of keeping it simple. I am now feeling so unprepared and stressed! I am so glad I saw this and I pulled yours up on Facebook and it saw that it was half of hers. Thank you for all you do to help us struggling new counselors. This will be a long year for me! I

I know it must be difficult replacing a staff member that has been there as long as the previous counselor had but remember this: YOU are special and unique and you have to be the counselor YOU are meant to be. You’ll develop your way and style and don’t compare yourself to them ❤️

If you have any tips, tricks, suggestions, etc. I would greatly appreciate it. 😁
