@@WorkingAussiesHomestead her ears are black, and her face is white with blue eyes that’s how I describe my sweet little luna and the miss Mark coloring that she has is a disqualification she was the last puppy in her litter no one wanted her because of her marking because she wasn’t a full black tricolor with the tan points she didn’t have the white blaze on her face they’re supposed to have a little bit of white on them and her face is all white with black ears and that’s called a miss Mark and it’s a disqualification and Australian shepherd standard I love my girl She’s the most sweetest dog I’ve ever owned

The old adage, if you have live stock, you will have dying stock. Best thing I can offer is start learning basic veterinary stuff, I even have a lab where I can make basic compounds for use on the farm. Like any thing quality in quality out, luckily the stuff is super simple and near impossible to screw up! and a good rifle is a farm tool, if you don't you really need to get one, 22 mag, or better. I have a 22LR that is the work horse of the farm, then I have a 7.62*39 but that gets seldom taken out, I got a 9mm carbine to fill in the gap, 9mm is abundant, easy to reload, easy to handle, and packs plenty of power for farm life. Right tools make for easy life! I am off the grid as well, main power is solar, and I am atm raising sheep but looking into pigs, be interested in how you plan to process them, what sort of gear for lifting and such.

Where did you purchase them? Do you know if they are 100% thoroughbred? I have 17 that I purchased from cowpen creek. They have a certificate from the state of Mississippi that the flock is 100% pure blood Gulfcoast native sheep.

How tragic. What a horrific loss for the animals. Maybe it's time to transition your fencing? This seems to be repetitive and I know we all hate for animals to endure unnecessary suffering.

That is where we are at now - reevaluating our fencing. It seems our charger is to blame and is malfunctioning.

Oh wow, I didn't expect to be crying this morning. So sorry for your loss. So heartbreaking but it is important to continue. I was wondering - are you selling produce at the farmers market in Fayetteville? I had been going to the Raleigh Farmers Market but it's been depressing to see all the produce not grown locally so I've been at a loss as to where to go. The Fayetteville one is 2 hours travel each way for me, so perhaps too far, but I'd love to know if you have any suggestions. Second note - your link for the book is not working. Hope you and the family have a great day!

The first year we moved to our property we lost the dog what had been my companion and partner raising our kids(over many deployments). It was abrupt and traumatic for all of us. It’s so hard to address such a big loss. I know yall will rebound. But understand why you’d need time to process before sharing. I think that’s the most respectful step.

3 years later and I’ve rehomed my goats that wouldn’t stand well for me and needed the stand. I trained Zera, a large dairy breed to let me milk her in the pasture. Good goats that aren’t trouble are worth their weight in gold - temperament is so important!

I have 7 dogs, 6 just turned 2 year, the mother is 2 years old. I'd like to this route but I'm trying to wrap my head around how to provide all the protein and efficiently. I can't spend everyday processing meat. I found this video searching about just feeding the whole live rabbit to them since this is what they did in the wild. Is that what you were referring to at 3:02 ? Thank you.
@WorkingAussiesHomestead

Yes! Several of the animals we raise have the perfect bone to meat ratio so I can simply dispatch the animal and give it in entirety to a dog.

Funny how things come together sometimes. Looking into pigs, mostly the Juliana breed. We uses to breed Bernese Mountain dogs for many years. Only dealing with MS we had to quit many of our livestock and dog breeding. But I have my little toy Aussie that does canine freestyle (dog dancing) with me. Great info and things to consider! All the best and happy growing... 🇨🇦🐐🐖🐕
