Thinking about same truck setup. Is it possible to pump uphill or at least to wedge the delirium to be able to pump uphill? :)
@RyukyuPumpersАй бұрын
Hello, I suppose it depends on how steep the hill is. I can manage a slight incline with this setup for a few hundred meters, but not much more. In this video ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fZmHf9ery9a5e4E.html ), you can see that I'm going up a slight incline with the same setup (the one on the left). Anything steeper than that would be challenging, I think. Loosening the front truck, shortening the wheelbase, or de-wedging the rear truck could help with pumping against an upslope, but if I wanted to de-wedge the rear truck, I wouldn't choose Delirium; it would probably be easier to go with DDR+Poppy. 🙂

Hi, thanks for your answer! Not sure then, if that setup is the right one for my hilly area. Have you ever measured, what avg and max speed you achieve with the setup? :)
@RyukyuPumpersАй бұрын
I haven't measured the average speed with this setup, but based on my experience with other setups, I guess I would achieve an average speed of 16 to 17 km/h over a distance of 16 km or so. I'm not the athletic type, and I'm happy just pumping around. ☺
So, is the Poppy better n faster then the Valks? Have u tested the Exile Hydra 55 degree?
@RyukyuPumpers6 ай бұрын
Hello, Switching from the DT Poppy to the Valks Mk3 didn't make me faster or slower. It's hard to say which one is better, but I find the Valks Mk3 more fun to pump. I'm not really chasing speed; as long as I can cruise around at around 10 mph and pump efficiently, I'm content. I haven't tried the Exile Hydra because I was satisfied with the DT Poppy and thought they were similar.

Hi. You've been riding different boards. Which one is more fun to pump. Top mount or g bomb bracket?
@RyukyuPumpers7 ай бұрын
Hello, It's hard to say, but for sheer enjoyment, I found the top-mounted Rocket Exodus fun to ride on smooth surfaces. That said, the board featured in this video is my go-to and my favorite to ride.

@@RyukyuPumpersThanks for the answer. Which board is easier to ride upwind?
@RyukyuPumpers7 ай бұрын
@@marcind935 I believe that regardless of whether it's a top mount or a bracket setup, a board with a smaller turning radius is easier to pump against a headwind(or on an upslope). Softening the front bushing would also make it easier. I hope this explanation makes sense to you(english ain't my mother tongue🙁).

Did you feel like you had enough grip with these wheels or would prefer wider/square lip? I try to keep to square lipped wider wheels for LDP, but I am curious to try a size like the Pink Powerballs, as you did. I'm looking specifically at the Seismic 72mm Tantrums.
@RyukyuPumpers7 ай бұрын
Hi Norman, Thank you for your comment. :) The Pink Powerballs offer sufficient grip to meet my requirements. I typically use them when cruising in the park at speeds slightly above jogging pace, around 10 mph or thereabouts. Giving wheel recommendations can be tricky since it hinges on factors like individual pumping style, the environment, especially the road surface, and personal preferences. Incidentally, for smaller diameter wheels that cater to a more aggressive pumping style, I've had a good experience with the 69mm HOT SPOT Defcon 77A.

Thank you, this is amazing! I was actually thinking about smaller pumpers, the effect of a reversed rear truck that hasn't reached 0*, etc.! Great!
This is cool! Do you have a preferred top mount deck length? I am tempted to throw my LDP trucks on my shorter surfskate decks to experiment now.
@RyukyuPumpers8 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I prefer shorter decks for top mounts. The longest top mount deck I own is the 31-inch Bossa Urbano. I've transferred all the components from the 24-inch mini to the Bossa Urbano. While I'm pleased with the Bossa Urbano setup, I sometimes miss the 24-inch mini because it was more fun for pumping, even though the Bossa Urbano is more comfortable to ride.

Thanks for the video! Is there a noticeable difference when pumping using the blocker? Does it offer more rebound?
@RyukyuPumpers10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment :) To answer your question, I've found that using the blocker doesn't typically make a significant difference when pumping, although this can vary based on your pumping style. As for rebound, I do notice a slight increase when the blocker makes contact. However, the blocker is usually just lightly touching during normal pumping, which is why it doesn't make much difference, I think. For me, the primary advantage of the blocker is the peace of mind it provides by preventing wheel bite. Additionally, it allows me to loosen the front truck more without the concern of wheel bite.
Hello! Do you know any good place for LDP in Tokyo & Kyoto? Any advice?
@RyukyuPumpers Жыл бұрын
Hello, I used to skate on the bicycle path along the Tamagawa(Tama River). No cars, but you'd better watch out for road bikes. As far as I remember, the pavement was decent. I've never been, but I think there's another bicycle path along the Arakawa River as well. As for Kyoto, I have no idea unfortunately. I hope this helps. 🙂

@@RyukyuPumpers Ah okay, thanks for the advice! Some of my friends went to Tokyo recently and they said that Japanese don’t really like skaters in general and will scold you for using the bike path. Just worried as I will be heading there soon.

@@RyukyuPumpers Also, may I know where do you get your LDP gears? I noticed that Japan skate shops are mostly traditional skateboards. Can’t find any shops with LDP.

@@wn8513 I usually buy LDP-specific gear directly from manufacturers' websites. AFAIK there's no shop that carries LDP-related gears in Japan. 🥲

@@wn8513 I've never had trouble skating on the bike path when I was living in Tokyo. However, I would avoid weekends as there are likely more road bikers during the weekend. I said "bike path," but the path along the river is actually for everyone, including walkers, joggers, and cyclists. However, some of the cyclists on fancy road bikes can be rude and act as if they own the place. 😟

Could I know your weight? Front bushing seems quite soft and why using WFB formula, not so common in ldp setup. Like your setups, especially those short top-mount pump boards.
@RyukyuPumpers Жыл бұрын
Hello 😃 I weigh 65kg, so for LDP (Long Distance Pumping), I think APS (or Krank if you are heavy enough) would be more suitable. Actually, I don't remember why I chose the APS/WFB combination for this setup.🤔 If you are aiming for speed and efficiency, APS is probably the better choice. The APS/WFB combination is kind of fun though.🙂

However, compared to the surf truck I own, which is a Curfboard truck, I found the Slalocybins to be more efficient. By the way, the Curfboard truck doesn't have bushings, thus it lacks rebound.

@RyukyuPumpers Жыл бұрын
Hello, I think it is depends on your target speed range. Preppy much all my setups are aiming for lower speed range so that I can pump at low speed without pushing.🙂 I weigh 65kg and I'm using Riptide APS 70a on both TKP(Bhanger) and RKP(Poppy/Slalocybin) for front trucks. I'm using harder bushing(reflex 77a) on the truck in this video though that is because this truck does not have board side bushing. As for rear, mostly I use Krank 87a. For the rear, I use hardest bushing that does not introduce wheel lift. By the way, I believe truck angle is as important as bushing choice. My front trucks are set to 57* - 60* and rear trucks are set to 5* or below depends on the wheelbase. I hope this answers your question. 😊
