Have you heard of wayne toups? Im a guitarists and recently interested in learning accordian. Wayne toups uses one with much less buttons compared to the ones i see on youtube. It doesnt have traditional piano looking keys and only a handfull of them. What kind of accordian is that and what key would i need to play his music? "Take my hand" is one id like to learn

👎👎👎👎Ummmm...The Roland V accordions available now are chromatic (each button plays the same note on push and pull). NOT diatonic (Different note on push/pull for each button). VERY disapointing this year old video ad is advertsing a producty discontinued years ago. And isn't even close to providing correct technical information. 👎👎👎👎

You couldn’t retune the one without the registers to octave tuning, you would need another set of reed blocks as the lower octave reeds are a bigger size to get the lower pitch. You could however change the detune between the reeds to get a wider, or lesser chorus effect when both reeds sound in unison.

as a beginner, i can say this video is disorganized and confusing as heck.

On your comparison of C2 vs panther sound . The panther sounds a little more tinny,more a of a tining sound. The C2 seemed to be more throaty, more warmer. I kinda like the the tinny sound,it seems to resonate further in a crowed. For polkas I think the Pearce sound is more audible during dancing out on the dance floor. Any way sorry for being so lengthy.

I appreciate you making the video, but I wouod like a few options, like if you play this type of music get this one, if you play this other, then get this one. For a beginner "it all comes down to your personal preference" does not work because you don't have a personal preference yet. Especially if it will be your first time learning music theory too. Jazz, this one, gospel, this one, tex mex, this one, vallenato, this one, french stereotypical music, this one, polka, this one, etc. And they are so expensive that "get all of them" also is unreal.

The simplest way to describe the difference between diatonic and chromatic: Diatonic works like a harmonica, one note blowing, a different note sucking Chromatic (whether keys or buttons) works like a piano, same note in or out.

The word “Diatonic” doesn’t mean that an accordion produces different sound on expansion and contraction of the bellows. The term for that is “bisonoric”. Not all diatonic accordions are bisonoric!
@MrFlames014 ай бұрын
Stradella, that’s the bass system used more commonly on piano accordions and chromatic button accordions, or free bass. Some accordions can actually switch from Stradella to free bass with the push of a button.

I bought a GCF Panther from Alamo (via Amazon) as my 1st box & that got me started. I did not yet know what type of music I wanted to play, but picking a box keyed to tunes easy & familiar made sense as a starting point. I now play mainly on a two row in DG due to main genre of tunes, but I also like the slightly lower pitch of CF. After playing DG for so long the GC box seems too low unless played on the upper octave on the G row. Thank you for the video - although accordions are expensive they retain value and it’s as important to get started . . . You can refine your choice of box later or “learn the whole box” as the video suggests.

A true "DRY" accordeon has the reeds tuned exactly the same or unisonoric. Any other tuning where one reed is tuned higher (or rarely lower) it is wet. There are varying degrees of wet but only one truly dry tuning and that is when the 2 (or more) reeds are tuned in unison. Then there is El Parche : )

T 2:36.. Irish Music. The majority of Irish Musi is played not on a strict diatonic system but on a two row B/C or a C#/D. The C#/D being closer to diatonic and a push/pull system. But, still chromatic. The B/C is more legator and is also fully chromatic. There are players of the one, to include me, who play a single row D melodeon. Some one row players also use a C box. Irish players do not use a D/G box as it is not suited to Irish music. D/G is the most common key system played in England. The most common key system around the world is G/C or G/C/F. followed by C/Fand D/G or D/G Acc. then A/D and A/D/G. Many French and other European players use a G/C/Accidental third row. The Quebec players are mostly single row D and some C and the three row G/C/F. Cajun is played mostly on a C box but they commonly play it in G. My favorite player of the Conjunto, Tex Mex style is Santiago Sr, the original of the style borrowed from the Czechs, Germans and Bohemians. My second favorite. by a long shot. is Santiago Jimenez Jr. I very much enjoy Flaco's playing , but Santiago is "the man". What Sr. and Jr. have in common. is that they both primarily played on a 2 row G/C accordeon. My favorite for the music style. The three row playing came much later. I believe there is only one note on the F row that is not somewhere else on a G/C box. If I were to start playing accordeon again, I would not be playing Irish, Quebec and European styles , I would be playing the Tex/Mex, Conjunto music and Cumbia and Panamanian, and Dominican styles.. all brilliant. Thanks for an excellent video. I wish I was closer to take lessons from you. PS.. I have owned about 50 diatonic accordeons.. my favorite brand is Castagnari from Italy , one of the best made accordeons in the world, and also the simple Hohner Erica and Poker work.but rebuilt and retuned.

I play chromatic accordions. Diatonic accordions seem inherently inferior to me.
@jeffhildreth92446 ай бұрын
Inferior how? Many diatonic accordeons are configured so they can be played chromatically. such as the G/C/ACC. And there is a sound and a punch that cannot be duplicated on a piano accordeon or a Continental Chromatic. I like them all.
@karimb17246 ай бұрын
The real difference is aesthetics because they have the same sound and components inside. So if you like the compadre's look you pay 200$ dollars extra ,there's 3 color options to choose and you get a carrying bag. With panther you get no bag and 1 color black. You could get the panther and save 200 to buy a nice carrying case.

I have a full size CBA for sound (5 voices, 2 in the cassotto), and a small Roland for practicing. I’m from Europe and I never came in touch with diatonic instruments. They seem way too limiting for me.
@j.e.wgreve15352 ай бұрын
It's odd that you never came across diatonic accordions in Europe since they were created there. You find them in most European folk musics. The chromatic accordion developed later.

I have switched from diatonic to chromatic 5 years ago and would never go back to diatonic, a nightmare compared to chromatic. Just ask a diatonic accordion player to play a chromatic scale on 3 octaves !

The CII sounds a bit richer. Almost seems like it needs more air and effort to get the same sound level? Is the CII German made? I own an older Panther. To me the difference in sound quality is not worth the triple price of the CII. I wish the panther had a better bass strap than the cheap faux leather crap strap that it comes with. That thing stretches out huge with time and play. Matthias Hohner would not approve of some of the cost cutting corners Hohner has taken.

Do the bass keys make sound? Would be nice to hear. Also, are either of these made in Germany or is it chinese crap?
