For me, this is a scene where Luke goes straight up gangsta on the Emperor. Up until this time, Luke is pure as the wind driven Jedi snow, but here he knows that it’s likely he’ll die. He Jedi’s up and throws down.

At the school my brothers and I attended, the 7th and 8th grade Math and Science teacher was Mr. H. He was a good teacher, but very strict and kind of mean. When my family went to see ROTJ, we were all creeped out by Mr. H's resemblance to Palpatine. We partly expected him to say, "Yes, young V, you will learn the ways of Algebra!"

Why does Palpatine even have guards if he never wants them around?

2:15 is great cause it spells out exactly _why_ Palpatine failed. Luke was right, he _was_ overconfident. And the fact he thought "faith in your friends" was a weakness was part of it. He couldn't understand solidarity, or having trust that someone will do the right thing. Despite all his plans he didn't count on the space fleet willing to wait for the ground team to destroy the shield even as their losses piled up. Nor for the Ewoks joining the war because they saw a common struggle. Nor (especially) that Vader still cared about his son and when forced to choose between them would throw his "master" down a hole.
