I too would like to see a lineup of larger, but still sub 250 gram, warbirds. I would think 650mm to 700 mm would be doable. Make them out of EPP, brushless, 3 cell, with a gyro that can be turned off. I couldn't find a larger sub 250g P-51, so I bought the Volantex 750mm and am in the process of lightening it. With a 2S 300 mah battery and no landing gear, it will be close but looks possible. I've got a long list of lightening mods I'm working my way through. It turns out the ESC was listed as 10 amps, but it's really 20 amps and 17 grams. I'm going to look for a lighter 12 amp ESC.

After getting approx. 16 flight on this one and getting it all tuned I prefer the way this one flies. I fly it in Manual Mode with a Hobby-Grade TX and it flies like a much bigger plane. The XK A280 is a great flying P51D but the Gyro is always active. It depends on how you like to fly as to which one you will enjoy the most but this one handles awesome in Manual Mode ;-)

You can get the BNF Kit which comes with an included 1106 3800kv motor if I remember correctly. The BNF Kit is what I had. I didn't think the stock motor provided enough power so I'd go with something around a 1206 4000kv motor.

Maybe 4-channel gliders with ailerons for beginners are more stable horizontally thanks to the gyro than 3-channel birds with rudder control? And what do you think, is this bird (in beginner mode) a solid park flyer even in a bit of wind? I am afraid of flying in wind, especially in turbulence
@GroundControlRC

Yes, I would say it can handle a 10mph (16kph) wind just fine, I've had (2) kids in the Family ages 7 & 10 fly it in 6-8mph wind and they did just fine. It was their first time flying an RC Plane ;-) Any more than a 10mph wind would make make it difficult for the motor to fly back against the wind. It's the best beginner plane I've flown.

That is a sweet looking aircraft I don't want you to ruin it and make it not fly but if you get some Automotive grade clear clear coat in a can from Advance or O'Reilly's and coat the f o a m with it it may act like armor for your plane especially out there in God knows what like a cactus or something could hit your plane

If you do it and it causes some trouble to the motor you can just use some two-stroke motor oil and spray it off with some water or WD-40 b u t I assume you would mask that off before painting it. Clear c o a t also goes great inside of shoes and on top of flip flops and you can use it on a ton of other stuff in your house and on your car

I use the stock TX and as I expected, once trimmed this aircraft can be flown in expert mode for lenghty amounts of time. It's more stable than the 400mm, and stil outperforms them in everything but time in the air. I can't wait for the others 400mm to appear in that new form. 😁👍 Best regards, and see you in the air. 😊

Thank You Much! I'm not sure, the Hobby King F16 and F18 looked just like the Eachine branded ones but theirs were 4S capable out of the box and the Eachine branded ones were only 3S capable out of the box. These 50mm EDF Jets really need 4S to perform extremely well IMO. This one was a Kit so I could put my own stuff in it. This F18 never had a locked-in feel like the F16. The F16 I have is the PNF.

I also saw the hobbyking one advertised as 4s capable but when you got to the specifications it has the same 30 amp esc with bec identical power system. Now I know this esc and know its capable of handling 4s at 10 second bursts at full throttle only. 30 amp with bec. Similar to the ones Arrows use that have no issue with 4s and advertised as 3s only. So what gives 😂 i think they are the same Jet. Eachine AF model and Hobbyking. All have identical specifications and fuselage colour scheme everything 😅

Of the arrows hobby brand in particular not one has had a burn out on 4s mind you, but definitely under the manufacturing specifications it says for the Predator 30 amp with 2 bec, 4s can be used with max throttle bursts of 10 seconds only. Why you using Throttle hold instead of Throttle cut. Throttle hold is for helicopter
@GroundControlRC
@GroundControlRC 10 күн бұрын
Because the throttle cut was not going to provide me the desired result. Here is what the manual states: Throttle Cut: This function cannot be triggered when the throttle is high to prevent any mis-operation. It appears many of these functions are designed specifically for Nitro Planes, not Electric Planes. Using the Throttle Hold provides me with a way to Cut the Motor no matter the Throttle Setting ;-) You could also just setup a function mapped to a switch to do the same thing but this was easier.

This one is actually a very stable airframe and the gyro is well behaved. I did find after having a spiral of death one flight where I got very slow in a turn, it's very tail heavy and needs approx. 6g of nose weight. I have my CG where the struts connect to the wing with a neutral balance and it's very stable with that CG. I had the ESC go bad on mine so I've converted it to a 2S power system ;-) Test flights coming up.
